How to age decals to match patina
I have a solid 69 GTO with nice patina- looks like a solid old car. Paint is tough but I can get a little shine out of it.
I would like to add something to the car. I have considered putting judge decals and spoiler on the car- but only if I can age the decals to make them match the patina of the car. Has anyone done this it seen it done? Clay bar? Buffer? Heat? The other option i thought of was to put the 69 ‘Royal’ treatment on the car. White from the nose to the back of the hood and white around the rear window and trunk. It could probably be added very easily. |

I would consider doing a scratch and shoot with some real espresso brown over that horrible shade on there now - then consider judge stickers etc.

Nice car! If it were mine I would NOT put any decals or stickers on it.

I dunno - the color is pretty bad. I made it look as good as I could but it’s still blah.
I have other cars that are more attractive colors and kinda feel like it will just sit there and rot if it stays like this. A scuff and shoot always ends up being a restoration. There are dings and dents that I would end up having to fix and all of the sudden the car is in paint jail like the others. |

Simplest thing may be to vinyl wrap the car in any color you want and that way you don't get caught up in a restoration and can then drive it without worrying about the paint.

Is that an original color and paint? Hard to argue that it would be the last car you pick to drive if you have others that look better. I think I'd paint it any other factory color I like if I had that one.
What color is the interior? Pick a exteirier color that will compliment it and go. If you won't drive it much anyway, what does paint jail matter. probably won't hurt the value much if you pick a nice color.

The car is originally expresso brown- much nicer than this. I think this was probably a ‘pick one of these 25 colors’ paint job in the 80’s. Oddly with all the documentation i got I don’t think it says when it was painted

A couple of mods can transform the car. A quick rendering.
