Default Knock off Delco Breather

Found this at a swap meet, I was thinking it was a Delco pc, it’s not, it’s an American made fake. Lol

When I had my garage and service station (1977-82) I have seen those look alike AC/Delco boxes on some parts. As I remember the parts weren't complete junk, but not the same quality as OEM parts were. I guess back then, even counterfeiters had some scruples............ Like the phrase, "Honor among thieves."

Maybe the weekend warrior would be fooled, but someone that was a mechanic as a trade, knew as soon as they saw the box it wasn't AC/Delco.

Back in the day we used to call them Red Dots. Not sure what the difference was between those and OEM but they were cheaper priced. Don't recall ever hearing of somebody that had a problem with them.

Years ago we received a box of "Delco" ignition modules. Something did not look right about them. They were very generic looking. We tested all of them on a bench tester. About 65% defect rate. They weren't even all the same color. Sent them back to the distributor. A few months later we found out that there was a large scale investigation into counterfit parts.

For kicks, I’ll put it next to a Delco and take a pic
