By looking at the data log on the LM2 it is 2.45 seconds plus/minus a few hundredths in the 60 foot.

Yep, so if you were running a 1.60 60 foot, you aren't shifting until close to a full second past the 60 foot mark. At the speeds that car moves a full second is pretty far out there past the 60.
I would expect with the better gear setup you'll improve that 60 foot too. |

ta man, have you considered a T400? I know a well built 350 can handle a fair amount of abuse but a mild T400 should give an extra margin of reliability.

If I was to do any of the "drag and drive" events that may be the time I would switch over to a th400 to have that ultimate durability. On the other hand I have never totally hurt a th350 to the point of where the car was undriveable. Only a slight mechanical issue for the 2 that I have hurt in the last 20 years hampering et's by a few tenths.

The other thing is with the gear change the convertor is going to act tighter. That might explain the 60ft.

True..but it wasn't 60 footing well before the gear change. Never dipped below 1.6 all last year with the 308's..if you check out the old thread I thought it was the carb. In hindsight it it hasn't 60 footed under 1.6 since the higher stall convertor R/R.

Have you tried removing the rear sway bar to see what the 60ft will do?

Sorry if I missed it but you've got some great times there. Are you running with a cage, subframe connectors, both?

If the weather operates I should be able to go a few times. The one dragstrip closes mid November.
I need to get these 60 foots back down where they should be.

Finally got the trans back with a full rebuild and a few minor upgrades. About the only thing that was still good was the low gear set. I should have took pictures being that I'm not up on my trans lingo...but the one thrust washer was literally being eaten..that was probably the binding I felt..in the rebuild we used a torrington bearing, pump was showing excessive wear it is replaced, as well as all the clutches were worn. He was surprised it was still pulling somewhat decent times.
The weather is really going to have to come around if I even have a chance to strip test it. I had a chance the other weekend but had family commitments to attend. So as of now the UCC convertor is back in for the initial testing to see if it works better with the new gearing or if it needs adjusted. Or was it just a trans going bad and too numerically low of gears causing excessive slippage?? I'm positive this combo still has a 10.5 maybe a 10.4 in it..maybe quicker..just hate the wait...maybe I need to trailer south.

I hope you can make some more "end of the year" passes.....but...
One test session isn't as good as 2-3-4 sessions to get an idea of your current combinations consistent ability... Thanks for all your posts, gives the rest of us inspiration to make things happen, also!!!

With the current head/cam package I know of 2 other combos that the owners also have the "I can always go faster mindset". One is a local guy with a 69 Trans Am street car/nostalgia racer he has gone 10.794/125.92 in cool weather and another is Lee M. on here that has gone 10.2 at 130 with 60's in the low 1.4' 60 foots its a light car. We end up bouncing ideas off each other now and then so its nice to have a group of guys tuning the same combo..they have both gained tenths over the last year or 2 since I've been stuck going backwards lol. Also having Dave Bisschop behind the head/cam package is great he is always eager to hear .."Dave it went faster"..and his usual reply is there is more in it.

A trip down to Bradenton, Florida might seem like a long drive but 20+ years ago some Ford Guys (from Detroit)
used to make the pull every year for the early Spring Racing. A very nice track. Raced their with the Keens many times when I was working out of Naples Florida. Just a suggestion. Tom V.

An RV and a car trailer and away I go..just need the retirement freedom to have the time. Once our border requirements loosen up I plan to make a few treks in the next couple years to Michigan and Ohio and maybe a few other states

Bradenton I believe is where Tom Bailey is starting his "Sick Week" drag week in February, somewhat for the same reasons..off season for northern guys and good weather and he is setting up prime tracks. Sounds like some fast guys are going..shorter drives too
