I do remember something weird that happened about 11 years ago. My next oldest brother and his wife would come down from Kentucky to visit once a year and each year he would tell me that he wanted the Eastern Redbud tree in my backyard. I would always tell him to take it with him. His last visit was in 2009. In January 2010 he passed away from a brain aneurysm. That spring when everything started greening up I noticed the Redbud wasn't. It had died! I planted another one in its place and it died right after planting it I guess my brother finally took me up on my offer.. I have other trees and shrubs planted around the area so I know it isn't something in the ground. I waited until 2019 before I bought another Redbud and I planted it on the opposite side of the yard where it is flourishing.

If you include "strange" to include what is defined as paranormal, you probably won't get many stories told. The thing is, on the truly strange, people will believe you or think you insane. No middle ground. No, I ain't talkin'.

A couple of these 'after death' stories jogged my memory. This is kinda long.
I had a cousin that l grew up with and l would describe as my closest friend even into adulthood. He passed suddenly at 45 years of age. He had a crazy sense of humor and loved to joke and laugh. We both had a strong interest in cars and we were always tinkering. Right after his death l had a dream. He was helping me siphon some gas from my truck and he told me that he'd seen my father (who died when l we were both 12). Now, in the dream it wasn't like my cousin was dead so l told him no way. My father is dead. You didn't see him, etc.
When l woke, l was pretty moved by what he'd told me in the dream about my father. I believed it was a 'message'.. The next weekend l went to Alabama, where we were both from originally. I decided to visit his Mother and sisters and tell them about the dream. They reacted the same as me, that it was a message.
Little did l know what the real message in that dream was.
My wife and young son were with me, it was Sunday night and getting near 11pm before we started back home and l had to be at work at 4am. Gotta get home. Now, I live out in the woods on a dirt road.. About 6 or 7 miles from home in a very rural area, the car goes dead. Out of gas! Dammit. In my rush, l didn't notice... A storm is rolling in, wind blowing and thunder in the distance.. and it's pitch dark. Gas station is 10 miles at least and l don't have a can anyway. I don't know of anyone nearby to call at that hour. I told my wife that the only thing l can think of is to walk home and siphon a couple of gallons out of my truck...and the irony hit me at that moment.
I could almost hear my cousin's crazy laugh.

I had one not too long ago. In a busy bar in San Diego drinking with a buddy and this big guy walks by- kinda bumping into people. I’m not small by any means but this guy was big.

I had never seen this dude before but I grabbed his shoulders and said :

‘I’m not sure who you just lost but they say it’s going to be okay. Not to worry- everything is going to be fine’.

I couldn’t believe I said that and sure as hell didn’t know where it came from and now I had to figure out what this guy was gonna do to me!

He looked at me crazy like and said he had just lost his dad and didn’t get a chance to say goodbye and it was all he could think about.

We shared a beer, talked about how F’d up that was and went out separate ways. He seemed to feel better but I was kinda screwed up for a day or so.

Default Bell in a tree, of course

Thinned out a thick section of tree's on the land up in the hills (NW MT). This is forest land, no homes. So this is a section cut out of what was a tree, is now garden decoration at my house in town.

First, who was up in the woods with a bell? Calling wolves? Ding, ding, ding, here wolfey wolfey....... Or Bear Bell alert?

And how it grew into the tree.....

No, I didn't rig this up.

You should have dug underneath the tree, it might have been a marker for millions of dollars buried there.

Since we’re on animals right now-
Not really strange, but odd to me. A few weeks ago I hear scratching in the kitchen. Sounds like a critter got in. I’m looking around and can’t find the source. Finally I look straight up. There is a pidgin on my skylight. Skylight is convex, so he’s constantly walking up as he’s sliding down it. Finally gets his balance at the top and is just staring down at me and pecking the glass. He does this for about half an hour, then flys off. About 2 hours later he’s back, and it starts all over again.
Funny thing is I’ve never seen a pidgin around here, ever. Just creepy with him looking down at me though.

He might be pecking his own image. Now, if he comes back at night when you have the interior lights on and it's dark outside then that would be kind of creepy.
