The 245/50 is almost an inch taller than the 245/45 (25.68 vs 26.64), so it would be cutting it pretty dang close. With an extra 1/2" all the way around, I'm certain it would rub on my car.
The 255/50s are 27.06". The 255/45/18 would have a diameter of 27.04'' - about the same as the 255/50, so I'm going to say they're a no go too. It's mostly the diameter, but the width is something to keep an eye on. At full lock with the 245s, I have about a finger and a half of space between the tire and the sway bar. I've never looked at the inner fender to see how close things are.

Sorry, I meant to say 255/45 on a 17x9 (26"). Comparing offsets of the 17x8 to 17x9) for your rim, I believe the difference is +3mm. This would reduce the clearance to the sway bar by about 8mm compared to the 245s (although your 245s being 17x8 instead of 9, it might be more like a 10.5mm reduction). So if you have 1/2" clearance there now, you'd be okay. And then to the outside it'd be adding about 2-4.5mm. So if there was at least 1/4" clearance now to the inner fender, that should work.
