Default Got a few more "back in the day" photos of the GTO, and some timeslips

My cousin located a few more photos of the GTO from back in the day and some timeslips. When he ran it for these slips it was bone stock and he was real young. About all he had done for racing up to this point was roll racing. He also ran it on street tires. Not sure if it was the tire set up as seen here or before that. Here it was painted candy apple red with black accents on the hood. He painted it himself. We of course took it back to Sunfire Red when we restored it. The only mods he ever made were bigger rubber fuel lines and a fuel cooling can. No headers, no head work, no aftermarket cam. At one point he had 4.88 gears in it, but I don't know if they were in it when he ran those timeslips.

This would have been the early 1970's. Cornhusker Raceway didn't last very long, I think it closed about 1974.

Heard a little more back from Bob. He said after the 4.88 gear went in it was almost undriveable and he didn't have a trailer to get to the track so he never ran it at the track with those gears. So, these runs would have been on the original 3.23 gears. He said he got it into the 13s but can't find those time slips. About the time the 4.88 gears went in he bought a decommissioned state patrol car so the GTO pretty much never saw the street again until we finished the restoration in 2014.
