greg smith garage lifts
Anyone on here purchased a Atlas Garage Pro 8000 lift from Greg Smith Equipment? If so, how is the lift? I understand they are built in China and I'm questioning durability.

I opened a new garage in 2004 & bought that same one from Greg Smith. Mine was the open over head type. It was used ALOT. I had no problem with it at all & when I sold the shop 3 years later the guys who had it never had any issues with it, & they are useing it today as much if not more then I did. I also used the guy that they reccomended here in MI. to installe it for me, It cost me $ 300.00 then but it was alot less headache for me & it was up in about 2 1/2 hours. I used it in a commericial show & had no problems , so if your betting it for home use I personnelly think you shouldn't have any problems.

I have a 7000# one form GS, no issues in the last 4 years. 110 Volt, btw, but it is just for personal use, not Pro. It is well built and very heavy. Took myself and a "helper" to build it. Took about 5-6 hours to dial it in, but we read the instructions!
Also, shipping is dock height only and we needed a fork truck and a pallet jack to get it off the truck (with lots of loading dock room; read long package). After that it was better to move it with two trucks. Once disassembled and loaded piece by piece on a car trailer it was no problem for TWO people. Good shopping! SDD

I was lucky, my friend has a small forklift to help unload it but I put the lift up all by myself..

Lift
I just bought that exact lift about 2 months ago.....I have to say that it functions, but the quality is what you'd expect from china. Compared to my backyard buddy, it's junk. It was, however, half the money and as long as a car doesn't fall, I'll be satisfied.

Greg Smith Equipment is ACES
I have a 7000lb Greg Smith lift. Quality is excellent and I have no problem endorsing them.

I've got a sissors lift. Tho great for most things, you can't use it to pull trannies or do most exhaust work.

Update to an old thread
I've had this lift now for 9 years. It has worked flawlessly. It even survived moving it 2 times. I bought another of the same model about 1 1/2 years ago as well as a twin post. Knock wood, they have all been great! |

Appreciate you taking time to update us on the lifts, a 9 year trial without any problems is a pretty good testament.......

Yeah really. I never saw this thread. My buddy just got one. Him and his 15 year old son set it up. I gotta get it over and check it out as I am in the market for one.

These are really nice 4 post lifts. Made by Advantage. I have the 9000 model. I like the way they encapsulate the 4 outer post. Keeps the unit from wobbling. They also have some cool features.

I have a Pro park 9000 drive on 4 post lift for 15 Years. Works great I used to overload it with my 3500 dodge dully no problems.
It doesn't even bolt to the floor, it came with brackets that have wheels so if you want you can lower the lit on the brackets and it will lit the posts off the ground and can be pushed around. I haven't used that feature yet. But I hope to add a another bay someday and will move the lift to the taller bay. |

I got my 10000 lb lift from Greg Smith 15 years ago and never had any problems. Closed top two leg lift. I installed it myself. I already had my floor epoxyed which I did myself and got two of my neighbors to help me raise the two towers and then I completed the installation. I had a 5” floor put in when I built the garage. 12 1/2 ft ceiling.
