Mickey Thompson Tires
Guys,
I need a sanity check here with a purchase I'm considering. On my 66 GTO I'm now running BFG 275 60R 15 in the back and want to replace them with MT Sportsman S/R. MT lists the size as 26x12R15LT. I believe the stock height is 26.1" or there about and the MT's are 26". Is this the correct replacement size? I have no rubbing or modifications needed running the BFG tires as I station wagon springs in the rear that raises the rear up nicely. I'm planning to run 15x8 Crager rims with 4.5" BS. I tried calling Jegs & Summit today but the phone lines wouldn't connect as they normally would. Thanks! |

A 275/60/15 tire is roughly 27.9” high to 28.1” high depending on manufacturers. I believe 9.8 to 10” tread width. Section width is wider depending on rim size.

Further research on Americas Tire site shows they'll be an increase of 1.17" if I go with the wider 6641, which I like. The question is will the 1.17" be on the outside or inside of the tire or is it split down the middle.
https://www.americastire.com/learn/t...200617041250:s I can go a good 1" to the outside but have 3" exhaust and the tail pipe would be in the way. I could modify it but just asking. Thanks |

That's a Nitto 555 on the left next to a MT ET Street Pro. Both tires are 275/60/15.
