16v batteries?
I am in need of a new 16v battery. Anyone have any opinions? I am looking at the XS Power 16v battery.

That's what I bought at the beginning of last season Brian. It did a great job and is going strong. I bought it as a kit with the charger.

X2 what Probird said. I have 2 XS Power batteries and 2 chargers. No issues in 2 years.

I run a Powercell and it has been a great battery the past 3 years, and only weighs 9#s.

I know you asked jack but they are not alternator friendly because they discharge at a constant voltage.

Reviving this old thread. I’m looking into upgrading to a 16v AGM battery, wondered what brand you guys are using successfully. I see people are fond of XS and Rock... guess one’s as good as the other?
After brand, is there a particular “model” you prefer?

I like my turbo start. Heavy but hasn’t let me down also run and alt but many do not

I hear the XS D1600 I the one to have. I have a friend of mine who runs a pair of them and a alternator. Double entered his s-10(small block 12:1 motor) and went 14 rounds to win pro and super pro the same night.
But I am hearing good and bad reviews on the 16volt systems. My biggest hold up on going to them is I hear a 16v battery doesn't start to go bad it will just go dead on you out of nowhere. I have been bit 3 times by the not enough voltage bug this year. Im interested in hearing other stories. Fwiw I warranted my 2red tops and they switched them over to yellow tops at no extra charge. I recently added a alternator and ran a 6 gauge wire to the battery side of the on/off switch. Cross my fingers and here we go down the stretch to make another run at a championship!

We used XS Power in the Grocery Getter and had zero problems.

XS has two diff 16 volt battery's one is 48 lb the other like 34 lb - I run the lighter on with a 105 amp 16 volt alt, I need the alt because of the high amp draw with the FI I am running now -- if you go this way you need a voltage reducer for your fan IT WILL NOT LIVE at 18 plus volts an alternator puts out . my son runs a 9 lb 16 volt from Altonics and has had good luck, I asked about running with an alternator and they said it would be ok ??

THANKS! I missed seeing ya up in Brainerd,But I saw you were at the dyno checking out the power plant for your whip!
Curt,the voltage reducer is my biggest hold back on going to the 16v system. Are there any other accessories that won't live up to a 16v(18v with alternator) System? IMO 16volt is the way to go. It's an invesent for sure. However, I just don't know enough about it to really feel good about pulling the trigger.

Considering going this route. May add voltage step-down later for lighting.

the fan is the only thing I had issues with for a charger I got the charger that will put out 50 amp -- it recharges real fast --
