Any Ford guys on here? Picked up another project.
Drug this 69 Mustang home from the back woods of Maine. Couldn't pass up the deal.
It has a 302 with a C4 auto and a 9 inch rear, with a Hampton 6-71 blower on it. The car was drag raced in the 1/8 mile back in the 80s, and held some track record at a little track in Maine. I believe the seller said it ran 90mph in the 1/8, which back in the 80's wasn't terrible. It's going nowhere in a hurry now. I've already hacked off the rear flares, which were made out of thin sheet metal and probably two gallons of fiberglass reinforced body filler. They had to weigh 30lbs a piece, not joking. So far the only real rot is the two front floors, and the lower quarters. I'll end up doing entire quarter skins as they really hacked the wheel openings up doing those flares. The pics are at the previous owners house, where the car sat for a longgg time. If anybody is interested, I'll post more pics as progress is made. What about you guys, got any cool Fords you're building?

I’m not really a Ford guy, per se, but I do like these era Mustangs. Plus, any car with a blower sticking up through the hood is okay in my book.

Nice score, I'm a fan of the 302's, had a buddy in the service with a 70 Mach 1, sweet ride.
That 60 pounds probably had a traction benefit, Good luck and have fun with it. Frank

Run the vin and get a Marti report. It could've started life as a 428SCJ Mach 1.

Cool car I’ve always liked the 69-70 fastbacks. I have a early bronco 9” rear I’m working on out in the garage, going to put it under my CJ-7 in the future. Also going to put a ford high pinion Dana 44 under the front of the same Jeep.
Two ford axles under one Jeep, Does this count?

It was in a car port/tent for 10+ years, followed by a 6 year span of outdoor living. The engine is thoroughly stuck, but the blower held up surprisingly well. I'd say the blower could be run the way it is, but I'll probably give it a once over before it goes on anything. It was originally a Silver Jade 302 auto car, with blue standard interior. It'll be black on black when its completed.

Good Luck with 'er!
My first car was a '69 Fastback. Now I've got a '68 Fastback. '69 has a very nice look to it. '69 gets the edge in the looks department (with the four lights) over the '70 with the 'equal signs' outboard of the headlights!
I'm interested in progress pics, good luck with 'er!

69/70 mustangs are really the only ones to have until you get to the modern blown stuff.
I have a 1964 Galaxie. 4bbl 390 ci 4 speed car. I can find something of anything I like. Lately Ive been eyballing first generation Cougars. For some reason they are one of the better deals in hot rodding.

Our 70 was originally R code 428CJ, with a C6 behind it. Now has a 69 Windsor/FMX.

Ford
Previously owned a 70 Mach 1. 351 Cleveland, top loader 4speed and a mid 3 something rear Posi. It was Grabber Blue with black interior. Very low option car with manual steering/manual brakes. With the wide Ansen slot rims on it coupled with big polyglas tires it was a handful at low speeds. I do remember that rim blow horn on the steering wheel (squeeze the wheel to honk the horn)....I would beep the horn at least once when parallel parking
I did love the car and it held its own against similar muscle cars |

A good friend of mine in college had a '69 Fastback very similar to this one, right down to the home made rear fender flares with fat tires out back. His had a "built" 302/auto/3.91, and ran in the upper 13s in the early '80s. Which was pretty quick for a NA 302 car back then.
'69/'70 Fastbacks are great looking cars. The Boss 429 version is my favorite, just from a looks standpoint. No stripes -- just a big mean hood scoop.
