Default Can someone fix my ignition box

Last Saturday was 95 degrees, but something else may have been going on to melt the sealant on the box. Car was misfiring and I put it back on the trailer.

This conversion kit has lasted many years for me. Can I use the trigger wheel and sensor with a new control box?

What box would be good for racing in the Sportsman Class ( 12.00 )?

670 heads 9.7 to 1 compression, small HFT cam.

Wow!
What voltage is the charging system putting out!
I inadequate ground can make for electronics to run hotter then they should Tom, but sometimes electronics just go south for no reason, trust me on that!
I have also seen electronics get harmed by a close enough lighting strike to place a huge static charge on the car!
Wet ground from rain conducts electricity very well!

That looks like the old Prestolite ignition box nearly identical to the ones used on mid 70's IHC Scout II's. I had at least a dozen of those trucks & several of the modules had that same issue. I think it was more of a chemical aging of the sealant than the heat issue.... kinda like the sticky plastic steering wheels on the 69-72 "A" bodies.

I'm pretty sure those modules (AKA "gold box") are still being sold, have your parts store look up one for a '74 - '76 IH Scout II. HTH

edit: here's one @ Advance Auto. https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...gnition+module

Montgomery Ward?

Forget about it and the distributor. Get an MSD setup and be done with it.
