I purchased mine from Summit Racing....The entire system..Pypes Race Pro....Looks outstanding in my opinion!...
I would add that when installing them...purchase stainless band clamps from them at the same time...no bolts to show and they will not crush the pipes.... This system sounds so nice.... https://www.summitracing.com/parts/PYE-EVT19

First is repop, second original.

IIRC the repops are about 3/4" wider than OEM.

Wrong, they are exact width and length.

Inline repop is 5 7/8" vs OEM/GM @ 5 1/4" wide.
Close anyway. |

LOL! Close now counts in horseshoes, hand grenades and GTO's. I guess that is why some people like Chiwanese repops because they can build their car "close" to a Pontiac.

For a non-purist, they're good but not great. For a purist, they're completely off.
They fill the openings in the valance a little TOO full.
The originals have a good amount of clearance on both sides - and look better (actually more correct) because of that clearance. They also came with their fair share of 'warts' with exposed virgin welds and mediocre chrome plating on only the tips section. The chrome between the two tips is usually pretty poor if not non-existent where the tips meet. The repros we've seen have nice, smoothed-out welds and are FULLY chromed with very few flaws. The pic above shows original 1970s-early 1980s vintage tips that are only partially chromed - the factory version. I'm pretty sure that later-production GM tips (just before they were discontinued) were fully chromed, like the pic below. Seems like I've seen pics of the two side-by side, but I can't find them now. As far as how they look, they both look great installed. Pontiac's iconic 'dual-duals' tips are gorgeous, regardless of whose manufacture they are. At least 'Chairman Mao's minions' got the round part and the chrome part right........partially........sort of................not......... |

I just measured my oem tips that came on my gto and they measure 5 3/4 from tip to tip. My tips are chromed from the welds forward.

Here's an absolutely factory-original pair on my Dad's 1st 70 Judge (bought in 1976).
They are 5 1/4" +/- across.
I couldn't get the measuring tape exactly level because the cars are so tight together. |

I doubt that Inline makes their own stuff.....
Probably changed suppliers or something. Or the supplier changed it's manufacturing technique.
I doubt that anyone would pick out the difference once the tips were installed, unless they laid down on the ground and looked. The other notable difference is that the early (production line and early over-the-counter) tips had the part number and 'GM' stamped into the bottom of one of the two tips. Later production (and those repros that bother to stamp them) put the part number and 'GM' on the neck, rather than one of the tips. Again, impossible to see unless you lay down under the car and look. In addition to the NOS GM manufactured and the repros shown, several companies made 'copies' of this style tip in the past forty-nine years. Most are not even close to the original style. |

This is where its going to matter. A good cam and they could be banging around hitting the valance. Besides beating up your paint, all that noise will drive you nuts.

I like them a little bigger. They fill the opening out better.
