Yep, that does look like a nice piece there, probably worth every penny.

So a year later & I went to install my TSM heater core & its not as thick as the original. Never noticed that until installing it. What did you guys do? This is in a Non-A/C car.

Thanks! 68RT

MD79TA posted the measurements of his Ames/TSM heater core. If yours is the same size as his I would surmise that it will fir OK since MD79Y never posted a complaint that it didn't fit OK and most folks complain on here if a part doesn't fit right.

After reading Bobalong's description of the job he had to do to replace the core, if mine goes out, I may just drain it and loop the heater hose from the engine back into the engine. (Did that with another car and it worked well. However, I do live in a warmer state than you. It's 67* right now.)

Best of luck with a difficult job. Hopefully someone who has used a core like yours will chime in on actual results.

Got it figured out. I ended up fabricating some nylon spacers on both ends to compensate for the lack of thickness. MD79's core looks like its as thick as the original, but his is an A/C car, so it could have something to do with that. The box has been out of the car for many years & finally going back in, so it was no trouble getting to it.
