Default Auto Parts Prices Going Up...and FAST

I purchase a lot of auto parts, just a heads up that prices have shot up ~since September, and expect much bigger jumps after the first of the year.
...China trade tariff induced I'm told.

STOCK UP, bad weather coming.

My old college room mate took over ARA auto air conditioning years ago. Many parts he was even a sub for some of the OEM folks worldwide. He had several parts made in China. The new tariffs have made them price prohibitive to continue and is looking at plants again in Mexico.

What is the tariff %?

Tariffs are applied to the import price. So, a $20 item at import is now $24 with a 20% tariff. The retail prices increases from $55 to $59 or something like that?

"I will pay more to not have to deal with the damned Communists."
THIS.
The Chinese have killed a great number of American boys in Korea & Vietnam. They will likely kill more in the future. We have helped create that monster.

This. I've learned never to buy the cheapest part - it's always junk.

The computer or phone you used to make these posts were most likely made in China. I know mine was.

Based on a brake rotor I bought in August, for $78.xx went to $89.xx., same vendor, top line product.
Other factors may involved, metal prices?

Just a heads up, no politics!

I looked at two front pre bent brake lines at Inline Tube last week for $35. This week they're $45.

This will be a great excuse for Edelbrock to double the price of their heads before I get around to buying them

My Toshiba is a piece of **** that's been problematic since new. Warranty repair involves sending it to the Philippines, where they'll perhaps steal my data from the hard drive.

The fukkin' Communists and the Communist Collaborators have essentially killed off domestic electronics production except for some higher-end audio equipment.

Because those criminals destroyed large swaths of American industry, there's no choice but to buy Communist Crap.

Why do I have to post this? Isn't it blazingly obvious?

Interesting.
I build my own computers. I have used ACER Motherboards for over 20 years, built at least 15 computers for people including my family and have never had an issue with a motherboard or hard drive. Same deal with Computer Chips and Memory.

But I am really sorry your POS, made in Japan, was problematic since new.

Their Laptops have been a POS for several years now.

You have been talking about them since the Bush administration.. The first one. I think you will be OK.

I've recently bought brake rotors and noticed that too. At least about a 20% increase.

The stainless steel Chinese knock offs of Dougs round port headers are still around $150 w/free shipping. When the tariffs are repealed, which they will be eventually, will prices go down on products that had been raised because of them? I'd bet not.

... and shipping has gone way up over the last half dozen years. Crazy prices on oversize shipping is the reason I invested in a nice tubing straightener and am now buying hoops of tubing & bending my own. Have several flaring tools & original example lines for 70-72 A-body's & 2nd Gen T/A's, which makes it even easier.
