I sold the funny car in October of last year. After getting it about 85% finished it just sat, and sat, and sat...so I thought I'd get off of it while there was still interest in these nostalgia funny cars. I kept the engine and transmission, along with the blower and all the fuel injection parts. I had found a '65 Tempest roller a few years ago and thought I'd turn that into an AWB funny car and drop my engine and tranny in it, but have since changed my focus and now have that up for sale as well. I'll get something suitable for the f/c engine someday.

For now I'm still playing music (currently with a band called The Breaking 9's) and just this year finished up some much needed maintenance on the Can Am. Discovered a busted passenger front coil spring on it in the spring of last year, so it sat until I could get funds together to fix it. My son and I went through the entire brake system, having the drums/rotors turned and replacing calipers/wheel cylinders and all hardware and hoses, along with a new master cylinder. I also replaced the shocks and coil springs, going with Bilstein's and Hotchkiss springs intended for a 94-96 Impala SS. Also rebuilt the front end with new bushings and ball joints. It now sits about 1-1/2" lower in the front and about 1" lower in the rear and rides tighter than a frogs ass. Norwalk was the first time having it out after the upgrades. I let wifey drive it for the first time. We had a fantastic weekend.

Picked up an '80 Firebird Esprit over the summer...a 94,000 mile "cream puff", all original survivor. Found it in Michigan of all places. Had Kurt Zimmerman check it out for me and he said it was so clean if I didn't buy it, he would. Only drawback is it's factory equipped with the 231 Buick V6. Runs smooth but is a slug. So this past weekend I picked up another 400 longblock assembly on the cheap and we're going to go through it over this winter to get it ready by spring to drop in the 'bird. Kyle will be 21 in March and he's been working on cars with me for a while and was even working at a local shop for a bit too, so this will be a good experience for us.

Thanks for listening, and the well wishes...good to be back.

Good to see you here again Brian. Blew right by your post in the "side dish" thread then it caught my eye and had to check the posting date. Cool that your playing again - guitar IIRC? Dusted off my old LP and 1/2 stack a few years ago and started back at it. Then the bug bit me - up to 6 guitars, couple new amps, bunch o' pedals, etc. Hands are a lot slower than they used to be but still fun. Post up your rig and maybe a sample or two when you can. Mark O.

Welcome back Brian! GL with the Firebird...I got my 455 out of a '78 Esprit. I didn't think much of the car at first, and I eventually sold it, but it grew on me.
