Kelsey Hayes 8 Lug Brake Shoes
Looking for replacement Brake Shoes for my 61 Kelsey Hayes 8 Lugs.
Any Part Numbers or links would be helpful. I have the shoes that were installed in the early 70s and everything new are too narrow and appear to be metallic. Thank you |

They're the same shoes used with regular brakes. Any good local parts store should be able to order them, or you can go online to places like Rockauto.com. Or, our host here will sell you a set: https://secure.amesperf.com/qilan/Se...sub_rowid=1098
I have Raysbestos organic shoes on my car, Rock Auto has them listed here: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...rake+shoe,1688 |

Metallic is the way to go. Less chance of warping because the shoes hold the heat instead of shifting it to the drum... Car will stop much faster with them too...

PS if the drums need cut make sure you have the corresponding and indexed wheel on the drum during cutting. Keep that wheel with the drum from then on..
Those 8 lug drums work well once you swap the alignment over to positive caster negative camber for radials. I used to run my 64 for long stretches at 130 to 155 and those brakes worked well when a deer jumped out on me once.. They stopped me faster then the discs I foolishly swaped to later on.. I was getting a lot of tramp due to too not enough toe in and blamed the drums. |

Who makes metallic brake shoes?
What company is making the metallic brake shoes for 14 “ 8 lugs?

They don't have to be 8 lug specific. Metallic for regular 14 in brakes of the same year are the same. (Shoe width change in 1965....wider).

Arc grinding of the brake shoes makes for better stopping. with metallic you will be changing brake liners instead of shoes.

The Raybestos organic shoes that you can get for cheap from Rock Auto are fine. I just did a complete brake job and this is what I used.

I try to find NOS Delco shoes. They fit 1959-1964.
