Nice reward for hard work
I spent a better part of the summer fixing up and detailing the engine bay in the Goat and finished things up by claying, polishing and waxing the exterior. My 11 year old son has started to take an interest in the car so I showed him how I clean and detail the car and gave him access to my arsenal of supplies. A little nerve-racking, but he did a really good job.
My neighbor invited us to a car show put on by his club at a local barbershop and my son was chomping at the bit to go. That show was kind of funny because it was mostly low riders, but it was a great opportunity to teach him about car culture and how everyone's tastes are different. The show was in a dirt lot and he did his best to keep it clean during the show. Our car stuck out like a sore thumb, so we were pleasantly surprised when we won the people's choice award for "Sharpest Ride". He's still got the trophy on his nightstand Over the course of the week we cleaned up the car again and attended a little bit larger show (~200 cars) with a wider variety of cars. He was so proud of our car. Again, he was meticulous about keeping it clean and would gladly talk to anyone interested in it. It was pretty cool to watch. To my surprise we took home Best Stock Appearing Car! It was judged by museum docents and Corvette guys so I'm sure they were looking at the details! I had him accept the award and the grin on his face couldn't have been bigger. I was so happy he was rewarded for all his work and I made sure to point that out. It made a point I've been trying to make for years! A few pics from yesterday's show:

Ha - it’s a plastic dog. No wire wheels were harmed in the making of that photo. That’s as a super nice Healey.

Those stupid plastic peeing dogs have started popping up everywhere at shows. I don't begin to understand it.

Some very nice cars at that show! Great that your son is seeing the results of all the hard work. Bringing home the bling is a great source of pride and he certainly has the "car bug" now.

A few years ago, I had my kids with me, as usual, at a show. My kids know not to touch care, but Some folks had a fit when my kids touched their plastic peeing dog. Strangest thing I ever saw.

My son is really into the video game Forza which has a ‘69 GTO so I think that added some cred. Plus he loves the thumbs up and attention when we cruise around. The other day I came home from work and he said “You know, I was looking at your car in the garage and it’s actually pretty cool.” Maybe he’s buttering me up for when he gets his license.

The Vedoro 68 GTO looks Grrreat!
Some states have the best cars: PA, CA, MI, and those other places, uhm, i dunno |

Ken, your 68 is gorgeous. And that's the reason your son is all smiles.... along with the trophies.
You should see some of them from here in Delaware. It amazes me where these guys find some of the cars they have and have built back to original or modified in this "small" State. Granted some come over from Maryland, PA, and NJ but they're all great to see on their own merits. We have a great area for classics.

Great looking car and way to get a kid involved! I was just out there visiting my son in Oakland, we love the coastline and went to Pebble Beach exploring on the way. I'm going to try to see some car action next time we're out there. Not uncommon to see old cars on the roads out there but most we saw were kind of rough.

Was that show in Clayton?
I know the guy that owns the '67 Shelby. I saw a Vedero green '68 GTO that looked a lot like yours driving down the street today. Did you pass through Riverbank CA today?
