Anyone know these clips?
I was in my box of extra / unknown parts today and came across these clips. One is slightly deformed but they are exactly the same. Both have a P stamped on one side. But they both have no captured nut or threads of any kind. Also I see no evidence that there was a welded on nut. Are these related to core support, or possibly front bumper brackets/subframe? Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Formula Bruce, if they are supposed to have a nut welded to them, where were they used?

To me they look like an assy aid vrs an anchor point something like around a carpet hole for a seat belt bolt, something LIKE that

This is great info! They were in my core support hardware bag.
But from the second picture I can’t see exactly the location. Appears the square washer with the tab gets the clip with the nut. Not sure exactly where this clip goes. On the actual core support?? But what is it’s purpose?Maybe I can see from the assembly manual pics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah, the pic's not that clear. I think you can see it in the assy. Manual. I've got a loose set I can take a pic of later today.

Here you go. They clip the assembly onto the subframe.

Thanks!
So it actually holds the square tabbed cup and nut in place on the frame, until the bolt (which is captured to the biscuit via another clip), is threaded in place. Now I have the rest of the story... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

On both my 70 TAs (04b, 05c NOR) the steel plate is threaded with no clip/nut. Wonder if there was a date they changed over, NOR vs. VN, or if it was one or the other supplier.

core support mounting..
https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?sha...4&share_type=t If you view this post, there are two videos which are very informative regarding the core support mounting differences. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This shows the mounting clips that I have seen ( VN and Norwood) I have NOT seen the longer s clip that Harold has, I wonder if it has the Location "nubs" inside it to keep the "nut" centered in the lower subframe hole.

This must be two clips, which makes sense. In my video dont have the clip you do which keeps it in place. Probably was pout on the frame in sub assembly

Yes, two clips. They're shown separate in the first pic I posted. (#6)
In the first pic of #10 (and the diagram) you can see how they mate up/slide together. Last edited by FunctionalShaker; 08-10-2018 at 05:39 PM. |
