Bruce, can you elaborate on the heat treating process? I'm very interested in your opinion or advice about that. Btw Congrats to Fulton! I don't care how fast anyone runs,a Pontiac powered car winning a race is still awesome in my book!!!!!!!!!

... ET is just that obviously, I've been very open about us trying to get a handle on the traction problem, but MPH does not just look nice, it is a direct insight to how much power you're making ...

I’m just amazed at how u guys fight over something that has nothing to do with one another! Giving dick **** cause he ran only this et or this mph , can’t the guy have a chance to dial in his ****ing car Jesus! Not like lil jack went out and set the place on fire right away or anyone else for that matter. If u guys don’t act like this face to face then y act like it here on the forum!

Robin did the same thing with the white Firebird when he was trying to go 7s and went 173 MPH out the back. Car doesn’t look like it’s spinning with this 14x32 tires. Cams probably in wrong or your pulling too much timing down low, but that would have to be a lot of timing.

Name calling again .... How juvenile. Hopefully you'll be at Norwalk so you can tell me that in person instead of hiding behind a keyboard.

Also consider Dick WON a race! That would include time runs and round wins. Not a one-off time trial once every couple years. (or more?) BTW, congrats Dick! Hope to see you again.

Are you sure he designed those funny named ports anyway ? . And it appears even that did not fix it. Want to know the problems IMHO, doubt it but I will tell you anyway. I am a welder/fabricator/millwright by trade and to the hobby race thing on the side where I do all my own work. Cast iron and cast aluminum do not like to be heated unevenly, when you do it they can crack or weaken. Metal grows with heat when you weld it and when it cools it can shrink to slightly less size than it was before. Its why you peen the he!! out of your nickle beads when welding cast iron to try and stretch it out. And special care must be taken with pre heat and cooling, and it STILL might crack. Now I do not do a whole lot of aluminum welding but I know it is more forgiving than iron. But seen my share of cracks. Those heads have outside ports that face AWAY from the carb/carbs. Thats a problem and one not easily fixed without major surgery. Its why you see that "Eiffel Tower" intake, to try and straighten that problem out. Ports are "catiwhopus", halve cocked. Based of some "better idea" aftermarket head that was not so much. If different cylinders do not feed close to the same you can have problems. Creates lean areas and than means concentrated heat that cast materials do not like. You could put a "crutch" on it with computerized port injection, that would help. Maybe that is what DF has done, don't know. Just a guess. This is all just a opinion, every bit might not be spot on. But it is not complete nonsense either. BTW, what is your 575HP engine ? |

Did you already know the answer to you above question but just had to post that afterwords. Like saying, "here boys and girls, this is how you fix that problem". Are there any other heads that need that, myself I have not heard of any. Maybe there are some. But how much does that thing cost ? And the longer pushrods they must require ? Cost a LOT to run those things. |

Out of respect for Scott, and Gach I am not going to speak of this in open public anymore. Something happened, but does not matter in the big picture. Have a engine to build and I am not stepping on toes. |

If it's a 301 just about 4 HP per CI and if a 400 3 HP. Ve and RPM will determine the power band. Assuming of course it can survive required rpm.and has adequate ve capability.
