Default Loose side view mirror on 71 GP

Hey All,
The top portion (cone shaped) of my driver's side mirror is loose and rattles when the door is opened or closed. Is there a way to tighten it from the outside without having to remove interior door panel, etc.? Or is a quick fix too much to ask for.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (also posted to Body Shop Tech)
Thanks

Apart from a hokey solution involving glue I can't imagine how you get around removing the mirror to tighten the screw holding the glass bowl to the stem.

Default Turned out to be a simple fix!

I remembered a spare mirror that came with the box of parts when I bought the car. I found it was connected to the car with a set screw to a bracket mounted to the body. remove that, inside are 2 screws that hold the top part on. Took less than 5 minutes when I saw how to do it.
Always pays to save old parts!
