She was nice enough to retrieve the torn-off trim pieces off the garage floor once she was able to extrude it from her garage. There's a nice photo of the orphan trim pieces in the trunk. :-)

...how about the open face alternator!...
...I think they meant to say it was built in December of 1972, yes?... |

That is a clean looker 71! It helps a lot on these to get non whitewall good height tires on these. Looks like a de-Esprited (emblem) Esprit. Thought of doing that, but haven't.... I get a sick kick out of TA underpinnings with an Esprit label.

Sorry on WW comment, I didn't know it was your car..... I love WW's For Esprit people, I found on Facebook a Firebird Esprit page (do a search on there) that has a lot of Esprit pictures. Some are new, but cool thing is, some are historic. Some dealer shots. My WAG guesses since we don't have numbers: 2/3 to 3/4 of Esprits had vinyl tops. Half had hub caps, which in Esprit meant trim rings also or deluxe caps. Some had wire wheel caps. The remaining half almost all had 14X7 Rallye Wheels, except for a smattering of 14" Honeycomb cars. Color variations were often more "Esprit" flavored with white vinyl tops on dark colored (red blue, brown, etc) cars, again sometimes with white interiors. Gauges are a more common than one would think option on Esprits, a third to half seem to have them. Tilt steering often found. AC with tinted windows seems more common than the performance Formy's and TA's. yes I'm bored drinking coffee, check out FB page for cool pics

...bird72; it's strange that your car don't/didn't have clips holding your emblems on?...I would tend to think those emblems would fit loose without the proper barrel clips holding'em in place??...
this car still has it's original vinyl top, so there is no evidence of the passenger Esprit emblem ever being installed. I did look once, the quarter itself is punched for it but I guess the line worker must have had something else on his mind during his shift that day... must be true what they say about Monday built cars.... |

I love the old dealership photos like bird72 posted. I was in the Hi-Y club in Highschool. We used to go to the local dealerships with the girls in the Tri-Hi-Y club (generally cheerleaders) and try to get the dealers to buy ads for our yearbook. They generally agreed, and would then have us pose with a car in the showroom, strategically posed to accent the girls’ best physical features. Or maybe it was our club photographer who posed them....it’s been 45 years! Would love to have copies of those old photos. I need to pull my High School Yearbooks out and check those old ads to see if we had some Pontiacs in them.

I think it's a 71. I don't think the 72 Catalina's had vents in the trunk lid. I could be wrong, anyone own a 72 catalina?

This was a 77 bird I bought to part out 15 years ago , not exactly a cream puff , locked the keys in it and the drivers door was so rusty At the bottom I was able to pull the bottom of door up to get my arm up it to unlock the door , some interior parts are in my formula .
If you look closely you can see the boot on of the door is pulled out Passenger door was good , one rear quarter was nice and the other side was completely rusted out
