Trunk Brace for Fuel Tank
I had the trunk floor replaced in my 63 Lemans. The people who did the work said the replacement was strong enough for the fuel tank mounting beneath and didn't include the long reinforcement that's welded to the floor of the trunk.
After thinking it over, I've decided that the factory engineers didn't put the brace in without a good reason, so I'd like to put it back in, however the shop didn't save the old piece they removed. Does anyone have photo's and dimensions of this piece so I can have a new one fabricated and installed correctly. Thanks, JK |

Hey Chiefkey, Please post some pics of your new trunk floor. Did they replace the dropoffs to the quarter panel?

Trunk Brace for Fuel Tank
Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try and get some pic's next time I go by the shop.
I don't believe the repair went all the way to the "drop offs", but I'll have to look again. Hate to ask for more, but can you measure the distance from the brace to some "landmarks" in the trunk so we can position it correctly on the trunk floor ? Thanks Again, JK |

Ok, 10" to the left edge of trunk where it drops and 11" to the right where it drops and 8 3/4" to the back middle edge of the trunk where it's still flat.

Trunk Brace for Fuel Tank
Thanks a bunch ! I'll get a piece sheared up and get it installed. I'll post some pic's as soon as I can, but it'll probably be at least a few weeks with the Holidays and all.
Thanks Again, JK |

What floor did they use for the replacement? |

It is, a single strap from drivers to pass side. I have an extra if you want to keep it original.
