I purchased 07 Base mode new with the full intention of making modifications to show the Tuner Kids us Ole folks still get it.. Just a summer time toy but they are a blast to drive and handling reminds me of my Kart racing days!!! This is one of the original 10 DDM Eaton Supercharger Beta kits I installed.

I forgot to add that I finished off the syncro's in the stock 5-speed manual, and I plan on replacing it with a Tremec 6060 6-speed manual early next year, hopefully with the extra overdrive I will pick up some of the lost MPG, but even if I don't I will still drive it every nice day I can this summer. I put 6000 miles on it this year hop to put as many on it next year.

There are several here in southern Nevada. People I have talked to about them love the cars. The only draw back is the lack of truck space for any luggage especially the convertibles. We would like to sell our 93 Allante and 65 GTO and get a Solstice. Simplify simplify.......

I have a verbal deal on an '08 GXP a hundred miles form here with only 13K on the clock. Went to see it yesterday and it is all but perfect, one ding on the deck lid where something fell off of a shelf. Sounds like another cash job for my brother in-law the body man (if I ever get my Firebird back). Gray with black top & interior 5 speed. Made plans to pick it up on Friday if weather cooperates, it is never a done deal until the car is in the garage. I will keep you informed.
Thanks for all the input.
Hank

Sounds like a great car, same colors as my V8, I am partial to that look so I may be biased.

I average about 27mpg in town with the GXP and the tune. But I abuse it. I love stabbing it and letting the turbo get me through traffic on the interstate. Watch out for the big rigs. They can't see you for some reason. Apparently they built some kind of cloaking device into these cars so larger vehicles don't know they're around. LOL.

I've had my Coupe for about 6 years. I also have the soft top that works well for traveling. Folds up and stores in the boot.
Been thinking about selling it, fun car but I just don't drive it like I used to.
Considering just how rare it is and that it really is about the last true Pontiac design I'm surprised they don't bring more. Maybe in time.
A GXP 5 speed Coupe will really set you back, they are extremely rare.

As far as blind spots backing up is the hardest, but regular driving using and trusting your mirrors it's fine.

My wife and I got our first Solstice this past spring. We bought the car from a friend of mine who owns a body shop in town. The car had been a one owner car which the owner had lost control from hydroplaning on the interstate the summer before. The rear suspension was damaged and the front end was swayed over a little bit. The car was a 2007 base convertible automatic with only 39K miles on it. We bought it for $300 and repaired it. Our original intent was to drive it for the summer and sell it this coming spring. After driving it, I have to say that I really like it....a lot! Handling is great and the ride is not bad. Negatives are few, but I will add that the base stereo that ours has, is not up to the task with the top down. The monsoon system is a must. I absolutely love driving this thing on nice days and plan on keeping one in the stable with the Birds and the Fieros.

The car is home and in the garage. Getting it off of the trailer will be a story when I have more time. It is a 2008 GXP, Sly Gray with black top and interior and a 5 speed.
It is a one owner car with only 14K on the odometer. The paint has one ding on the trunk lid where the owner told me something fell off of a shelf .It is pretty minor but once he pointed it out it jumps out at me. There seems to be a glitch with the remotes (they both worked when I bought it but now neither one works, any ideas) but other than that everything seems to be working fine. It has the Monsoon system with the six disc unit.
It is a good thing I brought it home Friday (trailered it 110 miles) because the weather has definitely turned to winter here in Wisconsin. Spring will be here before we know it, 100 days and counting!
I'll post some pics when I get them downloaded

Are there any good Solstice forums out there?

Hank

Congrats on the purchase! I was seriously looking at one once upon a time. Lot of fun to drive but I didn't fit so good into it (6'2") and decided on a Z4M.

Here are some pics. They are all in the garage because right after I got it home the snow hit hard.
I won't be able to drive it for a while.

Looks nice. Good luck. By the way I like your garage within a garage. I guess the Solstice is in the heated part?

I have been closing the back section, the heated part, off in the past but this year we are trying to make it through the winter with the whole garage heated. I keep it at about 50 unless I'm working out there then I bump it up to 60. The deciding factor will be the heating bill. My wife really likes getting into a nice warm car on these frigid days here. It has been below zero for the past couple of nights and only slightly above during the day.
