Back in the saddle
Been a while sine I last posted. Crazy busy. How busy is crazy busy you ask? I have a new 2017 Dodge Challenger Hellcat A8. And I get ~2 hours a week on Saturdays to enjoy it. Bought the car in Feb. with 10 miles on the clock. It currently has 860 miles on it. Sigh. But I really really like it. Modern Muscle is very cool. Needs drag radials. The way it just kicks the factory tires loose is dangerous. Fun....but dangerous.
Have not been paying a lot of attention to my GTO project. Needed an extended break. Put it out of my mind completely for like a year. Going to continue that for another month or two. Its actually kind of nice. But I think the stress factor of that project is going to go down. A lot. I spoke with Mark at Luhn Performance today, and he has agreed to take the project on. I was afraid he would turn it down. Luckily for me, he didn't. I will be having a strong pallet made to house all the engine parts in a sealed box for shipping. That's step 1. Don't need a lot of parts. Pistons, rings and rods for short block. Valves and shaft rockers for the heads. Pushrods, etc. Mostly meticulous machine work and assembly. Once that is complete, the car gets shipped. Then the intake manifold and turbo headers can get made. Hot side/cold side plumbing with intercoolers. Have the turbo's. Still in their boxes. Gonna make a real nice retirement toy. In 4 years. |

I have had a crate built on a pallet, and its mostly packed with every part I have for the engine. Have selected a local shipper to pick it up at my place. But its July, and monsoon season started on time this year. But I fully expect to have the crate on the way very soon.
Engine first. And we will go from there. |

Starting the New Year out with a Bang.
I have crated up all the engine parts last week and they are on the way to Luhn. All Pontiac aluminum block, 55mm cam. Bryant ccw billet crank. 4.125" stroke KRE Warp 6 heads, CNC'd exhaust, 2.250/1.850 Moldstar 90 valve seat material bars. 2 - 75mm/87mm Bullseye billet turbo's, 1.0 A/R S/S turbine housing. and a lot more stuff that added up to about 475#. Thanks Mark. Its your build. We can talk about goals after the holidays. Merry Christmas. Everyone. |

What style intake are you making ? High or low rise . Are you looking to keep it under a stock hood? Can you post some pictures of what's being built ..
Good luck.. You got a good guy for the job . Should be really something when all done..

The specific style of intake will be similar to this. Don't know what size plenum needed, but there is likely room. No distributor (COP), and no water crossover (reverse cooled using a mechanical Meziere pump). Mark has suggested a custom bottom using one of the Holley tops at one point. Actually, I messed that up. I think it was a Holley top. Maybe this one.

I like that top. It has a nice kick in it to slow the air down...
Do you have a Hp/boost goal in mind?

This car will get drum gas. MTBE is not a banned substance here (only in 4 states), so I will probably use VP MS109. Plenty of octane for some boost & timing and very stable if it sits in the tank for a while.
I would be happy with a power level that allows me to run 8's. Car will cert to 8.50. At 3650# with me in it I think the engine will be capable of getting me there and remain very reliable if we keep the RPM reasonable. |

Don't forget cup holders then. Should cruise to 8.50s while drinking your coffee
