Default Made a hall table what do you think?

Really getting into woodworking. Just finishing up this table, its made from a single rock maple post and a piece of ambrosia maple I trash picked for the top. n It has super character and a great swirly grain with lots of burl. All done by hand no power tools. Flattening the chainsaw cut top is a chore if you use hand planes!! I still need to put on the oil finish for a bit more pop. No nails or screws!! Any comments or criticisms welcome..

Going to try to sell it at a local market, what would you think I could get for it?

Probably about $5 an hour

I make metal designer furniture on the side, usually prototypes for a designer ... learned quite some time ago that within reason, don't do anything that would only be appreciated by another craftsman ... as the customer doesn't give a flying F. They want a quality product for sure, but the tiny details, or methods of construction that only another welder/fabricator/carpenter would notice ... well, another craftsman is not your customer, so they never get noticed, you never get paid for them.

So what I'm saying, if you do it for money, use the power tools, use the screws, because the customer isn't going to notice, and if they do, they aren't going to care. Do a good job, just don't spend hours and hours doing things the average person is incapable of understanding.

I'm no Craftsman, Pete, but the edges look a little rough.

Seriously, beautiful work.

A lot of time went into that. I see some nice tools on the wall behind it too. Is that a home made mallet on the bench?

Nice job on the table.

Thanks. Yes I made the mallet. It's made from an old dogwood stump with an oak handle. I have quite a few planes but they all serve their purpose. My girlfriend asks why I need them all. I told her it's like purses and shoes. I've picked them up at flea markets mostly and with a little work they are quite usable. Still looking for that Stanley no 1.
