I still have my Johnny Service Mechanics Garage and Gas Station set.

It's on the closet shelf of my office.

I had two "service stations". Best I remember, one was for very little kids, and another was more complex "nicer" for slightly older kids.

My Mom bought the bigger, nicer one for me for Christmas, but couldn't put it together. She got my two (much older, young-adult) cousins to assemble the thing. The story of them bickering about how to put it together still resonates in our family.

I'm thinking that there was an "elevator" to get the cars to the roof, but there was also a driveway to get down.

I don't remember it very well, but if I saw another like it, I think I'd recognize it.

Sorry for the bad picture, seems it has faded over the years. This was my fourth birthday March 1958. That is the cake sitting on the left side of the roof. I think there is a close up picture somewhere but I couldn't find it.

A few years ago my wife got me a lift for Christmas and wrapped this and put it under the tree:

I had that exact same service station set and I played with it for hours! I grew up in gas stations too. My dad had a Texaco station when I was born and later owned a Cities Service station.

Is that the same one I saw in the city circle of Rantoul IL ? I remember seeing that station displayed in the window of an antique shop with that other garage somewhere on my trip to MN. They offered it to me for $275.

Is that 80s or 90s era?

I had a bunch of Hot Wheels stuff when I was a kid (late 60s). I think we got my oldest son one like you show in the photo. I think we still have it in his closet.

Not exactly related but I finally got my dad’s old cast iron motorcycle patrol toy together with the one I recently bought at an antique shop. His is on the right. I think Hubley made these.

I sure remember this one. I had it too. Man, so many good memories come flooding back on that...
