I am currently in the process of swapping a 64' 326 with a 65' 326.
I would like to trade the 64' throttle bracket for a 65'. Anyone willing?

I do not know the part number as requested but maybe someone else can find out. Here is the picture from the Ames catalog.

I have an original that looks like the ones pictured. Imperfect factory stamp number appears to be 9779967 ( first and last numbers clearly visible, other numbers partially)Very nice no pits, was blasted and painted (.I know it is painted 64 color). Not looking to trade but will sell for fair price.

Halfway, is yours off a '64 2 bbl 326?
The '64 2 bbl p/n is 9775930. '65 is 9779967. I assume they are not interchangeable in part because the intake changed. The unique "feature" of the '64 2 bbl bracket was that Pontiac cut the 2 bbl bracket and crudely welded on a tab that raised the upper part for use on the tripower. A '64 2 bbl 326 bracket can be converted to a tripower bracket in the same manner today although I believe they are reproduced so not sure it is worth the effort. I don't believe any of the original '64 brackets were marked with a p/n. Unless the ones in the pix were Service Replacements, I assume they DID mark p/ns on them in '65. That helps identify them. |

Yes it is from a 64' 326 2bbl but I did at one point had a Tripower setup on it, and I used the same throttle bracket.
There are no numbers stamped on it and no welds that I can see. Unfortunately, I walked out of the house this morning and forgot to grab it so pictures tomorrow. I am not concerned about keeping everything original at this point as I am swapping the 64 326 for a 65 326. "I assume they are not interchangeable in part because the intake changed." Correct. I am trying to do this at the least cost possible so I thought I could trade parts as needed. Stayed tuned because when I am finished, I will most likely have some other items, to trade or sell, strictly for the 64 along with that Tripower.

Well I thought I had a good 1965 Throttle Bracket for you but I tried it out on the two
66 Tri-power (PY Intakes) I have and the flat arm of the mounting bracket is 3/8" too high to bolt on to the intake without a thick spacer. We are talking the forward bolt hole of the 2 holes that mount the bracket to the intake. So I have some questions? 1) This bracket is obviously not the 64 326 bracket shown in the pics provided. (My 64 Throttle Bracket resembles it though). 2) Does the 65 Tri-Power 3-2BBL manifold and the 4-BBL manifold use a height spacer in that location? The bracket I have would "work" with that spacer added. SO NEED HELP FROM 1965 OWNERS ON WHAT THEIR 65 TRI-POWER BRACKET LOOKS LIKE. This investigation for HALFWAY also identified a different issue for me. The Barry Grant 6 BBL intake I have has no boss at all in the forward bracket hole location. Another issue to fix. Tom V

I am not installing a tripower on this engine, strictly 2 bbl. I will look in my extra parts to see if maybe I bought a 64 tripower bracket and have the original 2bbl bracket. The pictures of the bracket I last posted (3 pics) is what I was using after I went back to the 2 bbl setup. Just so we are clear, I need a 65 2 bbl throttle bracket.

I have never owned a 1965 326 2-BBL car or engine so I do not think the parts I have will work for you.
Having no cars or engines I do not think I would have normally acquired that part. I thought they looked similar to what I have but am finding out that I was wrong on the deal and the offer. Need some 65 326 2BBL guys to chime in. Tom Vaught

I looked at 5 different brackets (3 were Tri-Power and 2 were 4-BBL or 2 BBL but the 2 that were 4-BBL or 2 BBL needed that spacer to make it work.
I will still swap with you HALFWAY if that is what you want, but I really do not want you wasting your time if the part I send you is still wrong. Tom V.
