I don't know how the powertrax is in an automatic but in a stick car it's awful. Years ago when they first came out I had a 64 gto 2.93 posi and my friend had a 3.55 Malibu with the powertrax. Me wanting more gear and not knowing about c clips swapped with him. I immediately regretted it. Im about to have to sink 2000 in a rearend and it's gonna be a 9 inch from quick performance you just cannot beat their price but they have excellent reviews

Is that 2000 all labor and brakes? I don't think it is. That's why I'm trying to keep my rearend . I have no need for disc on the rear and I'm very happy with the current set up (drum with 2.93) except the spinning single tire. This car is a monster cruising and I thought I had read that they made a posi for my series 2.93 gears? Anyone? I have been careful of where I spend money on this build. For once I would like to have a car worth more than I spent on it ( not that I will ever sell) and 3000 dollars into a rear end will not help the bottom line. Doug

You are pretty much stuck with 3 options:
Powertrax: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/p...2801/overview/ Auburn High Performance series: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/a...0114/overview/ Auburn Pro Series: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aub-542099/overview/ Or finding a GM unit. The 8.2 BOP is a shrinking market. And then comes labor for somebody else to set it up, or you can DIY with careful research. But the DIY option to install a GM or Auburn unit will require some specialized tool purchase. You will need a press, in-lb torque wrench, and a dial indicator as a minimum.

Look at Moser 9", after you price everything you would be surprised at what you could get. I ended up getting a Moser full float 9" , after I priced everything out. Just another option.
