Yeah, as long as they don't have Barrett-Jackon-Mecum fever and the price stays under $10K or somewhere in that neighborhood. I like it though.

All those little rust bubbles he claims is no big deal will definitely be a big deal after the paint is stripped! Still, nice that it is a complete car. Harder and harder to find complete cars anymore.

Of all the cars talked about lately, this is the first that I am really temped to bid on.
Would be a great candidate for a driver restoration that you can have fun with.

Manual steering, manual brakes, 4sp, gauges/tach. no console, hideaways
Except for RA, it is just how I would have ordered one
Wonder what rear is in it?

Looks like a good restoration project, not sure about a driver restoration though.

You almost never see a car that is mostly unmolested anymore. I remember when you could go look at a couple of them every weekend.

Yeah, I'd take that much rust over Billy Bob's rust free driver with the '70s moon roof, Holley intake and diamond pleated crushed velvet seats any day.

have bought my share of vinyl top project/partscars from the same region... A few even looked a lot this "jewel" from the SA area. There is a very good chance that the roof skin will need splicing/metal work, if not total replacement, then one gets to chase rust around the entire body exc the floorpans. No thanks, given the choice, buying "Billy Bobs" RUST FREE '70's contraption & putting a roof skin on it, along with replacing a few parts, going to come out way ahead.

I agree and avoid vinyl top cars like the plague. Even ones raised in Arizona have rust problems under vinyl top.

Ha, ha...well, different strokes. Having just restored an otherwise solid original with bad vinyl top rot, I'd still take this one over Billy Bob's. I like 'em 'all there'.

That car would be fun just the way it sits. Get into it and say goodbye to your money.

I bid the auction to $8,100 in the last minute, but lost to another bidder that bid that same amount. That's never happened to me.

I talked to the seller at length during the auction and he seemed to be a straight shooter and his feedback was 100%. Hopefully the top isn't too rusty. He didn't think there was any rust under the main area of the roof, but I guess you never know until you peel the vinyl off.

Ditto on the Cordova tops, My 69 GTO hardtop originally had a Cordova top but I removed it when repainting the car. The car spent its whole life in Tucson Arizona and in a garage to boot. Absolutely zero rust anywhere on the car, (it still has pristine trunkpan speckle paint. But yet even this car turned into a PITA. Like many Fremont built cars it had zero paint under much of the Cordova top (I guess they were saving money on paint and time) and while I was lucky there were no holes anywhere there were 100's of tiny pits with oxidized metal in them. We couldn't blast the roof and chemical cleaners couldn't remove the last bits in each pit so we manually ground each pit, probably added $2k of labor to the paint job cost but couldn't risk them acting up after painting. If I knew what a pain it would have been I probably would have left the top but my heart was set on topless.

It was worth it because 10 years later all is good.
