What's a nice Ram Air Formula hood worth?
I have a really nice Formula Ram Air hood that I don't really have a use for. I'm just wondering what a fair price would be if I decide to unload it?
Thanks, Nate

1) What year is it? Early ones did not have the steel reinforcement bars.
2) Is it bowed in the middle? The only way to really tell is if it's on a car. 3) are the defroster grates cracked or missing? 4) are the scoops cut out? The factory ram air cutouts had an inner edge left in place versus the homemade cutouts that are usually nice and smooth cuts. 5) shipping is almost impossible to do without damaging the hood in transit. Best buyer would be someone within driving distance of you. |

the early ones are seemingly impossible to find;
i purchased a nice uncut (scoops still closed) later (?)73-75 hood several years back for $500 iirc

If memory serves me, I think I paid around $500 for the NOS hood with the broken-off corners from The BOSS. And I picked it up in person (no shipping involved). It took a bunch of work to recreate the corners but it was a dead flat hood. It's on BentWheelBob's black car now.

I would guess the hood would be worth somewhere between $500-$1000 depending on the condition.

You are way light on that Chuck - I wouldn't let mine go for that in fact I would almost consider picking up yours for that much! The 70 only are VERY hard to find in that condition.

I could use another one for the Gramma car since the hood on there is bowed out big time. Poeple are always asking me if I am sure that my hood is shut all the way? Maybe I'll swap out for a T/A shaker hood since I have a nice 71-72 shaker top I can put on a repro air cleaner. |

I sold two good hoods in the last tow years. One was a nice 72 hood for $700 last year, the second was a ram air hood off a 71-72 (open air intake) that had surface rust on the brace and around the hood latch area for $450.
