Putting together an aluminum RA-V top end package and need some opinions.
Got a set of custom BRC pistons in this engine with a 15cc dish running #48 heads at around 9.8:1, pulling off the 48's for the V's. Running a 4" stroke in this 433, but if my memory is right we used either Eagle 6.535 or 6.635 BBC rods since the pistons were customs anyway. I'd have to pull it down to know for sure which length we went with. These V heads come cast with a 78 cc chamber, I'd need to mill them to around 65 cc to utilize the dished piston and be about 10.8:1 Is popping for another set of custom pin ht flat tops worth it? Any idea what the gains or losses would be between the two options? I'd think the 1.6 Rod-Stroke ratio would be ok with the port volume of the V head in a street-strip engine that will rarely see 6000 rpms on regular cruises, but?

Pump gas? What is easier mill the heads or new pistons-which will also require rebalancing.

Pump gas, so I figure 10.6-10.8 would be a good compression switching to Aluminum heads.
I'll have to swap the 4-6 and 3-5 pistons so the bottom end comes apart anyway.

Man I'd just get new pistons then get the CR just right and still have a thick deck on the heads for sealing. And if you get real technical put the heads om the block and pour the chamber for an exact match dish!

Valve relief orientation is going to be an issue regardless
D port = EIEEIE V head = EIEIEI

I'm just in the same camp as Skip on this on... it is going to cost $$ either way.
