Finally Storage?
Its been almost 5 years now since I moved into the place I helped design. Its a small 3 bedroom home that I did plans on and my friend built. He built homes on the side from his other job that I worked with him at for several years. The bad part was that just as they were framing up my home he developed heart issues and was in the hospital. I ended up supervising the rest of my home being built and well the subcontractors pulled some things I caught most of them. One I missed was the install of a special support so my kitchen area would have been open to the living room. Instead I ended up with an arch because they put in ceiling to floor instead of across as put on the plans.
Well moving on I had had the home wired for cable in all rooms and master bedroom and living for surround sound. I did get the living room finished with the in the wall surround sound speakers and ceiling ones in the behind couch for that nice theater experience. Never did get around to putting in the bedroom ceiling ones do to health and well lack of help. The home was suppost to have a garage and well I talked and talked and asked about it. I had stuff that I needed protected and Finally in May I woke up to sounds and found I had a small slab poured in the back. Apparently I was at least getting a shed made and perhaps I could finally get my stuff moved inside and things handled. Its almost finished now. The shed was built and I finished off the insides with help from friend.

Things moved with a snails pace with the shed. Apparently the person building it was doing it on the side and it was two months before it was finished. Then I waited two more weeks for it to be roofed and finally another two before It was painted.
I had it set up for an air conditioner since it gets mighty hot and I didnt want to cook inside it in the summer. Shame the bonehead did not check the dimension well since air conditioners tend to get larger to the window area. We had to do some shaving and pushing to get it to fit later when the finishing inside was being done. Joey my adopted family friend came over and did the insides for me. He loves building and at that time was not working do to the oil slow down. So we did some estimating and brainstorming and I went and made two trips to Lowe's with my old Pontruck. It was loaded with Drywall plywood and other wood and of course Insulation. You can see Joey in the picture even...

Well as the insides came along I had discussed having storage and building shelves and to be able to hang up my collection of Racing bicycles that I have from my bicycle racing years. I also wanted a nice large workbench in the place. You know the one you always wanted and well ended up piling it full of stuff later.....
The idea of walling in the ends of the building above came into being and using wood and drywall and plywood for floor it was done and you can actually lay up in them its that strong and built. The shed is R-30 on roof and R-13 on walls so I hope it stays heated and cool when I am in there working on stuff.

Sorry about the sideways pix the load here made them flip.
Here the Walls were up and lighting is installed I went with the new Led lights they use much less electricity and give off lots of light, Also you can see the wires hanging down for the speakers and the pegboard I have up for the wall behind my work bench. The place is wired and has outlets all around and three on the bench alone. the center outlet is set for USB also. It still needed trimming out and paint. At this point my friend Joey was offered a nice salary job at a local Oil support company with benefits. He has kids and well there went my getting the place done. He started after Christmas and things got very slow for finishing the place.

Getting close now. Walls painted Trim done and painted. Repaint of the wall where the painters tape pulled up new paint. Stain of the workbench and yes the top is oak. The bench itself is very strong and thick. Granted I am not really going to drop engine blocks on it but I will be doing bicycle repairs and Computer work on it most likely these days.
You can see the electrical plugs and the center USB one. The air conditioner is installed and working. I have a small heater that worked very well keeping the place worm during the two cold spells. I brought in all the potted roses and they were fine. I picked up a nice 3.4 ft mini fridge for the shop. Always nice to have cold water and beer available. Or in my case cold water and fruit.. Soda is kind of out for me these days... The top of the bench has three coats of polyurethane over the stain. It shines nice Other than the brown paint on the trim the place is Eggshell white so it would be bright in the place even with the south window or the lighting at night. Window shot shows the bench and the nice 4 ft Led shop light over it. The window trim and sill are done, The new ceiling fan And the speakers for the stereo. It took some thinking but the end result was the putting ujp the wood around the openings and having sliding doors to the upper storage. Opposite shot shows the bench. light and the Air Conditioner. Next to it is one of the 4 well mounted outdoor speakers I had from my old place in Austin. The overhead storage now enclosed and the sliding doors to open to get to it. Another look at the Ceiling fan, Now this back wall (North side of building and next to the entrance door will be full of shelving. That we just worked out how it was going to look and built. Perhaps soon that will be done and I can move the stuff in. Smiles when I get one of my old office chairs in the place I can Relax put my feet up and watch TV! yes I have it wired for cable....

Pretty snazzy for a shed. It will be a shame to fill it up with stuff just for storage, you need to build a second one for that.

That's a sweet little shop you've got there Blackcat. The only thing i see missing is the shelf for the minifridge and stereo.

Shelving is coming! I have plans for one wall and the other side of the door away from the window for shelving. I have lots of good stuff I need to store.
Oh and the Tunes are working and I have decided on a wall mount for a 32 inch smart tv I got on sale at christmas. I also will see about getting either wireless or perhaps a modem for a computer out there since I do on the side computer work. Oh and that fridge.... Points at pix...

Very nice building, what size is it? Looks a little small for very much storage, but a nice place for a getaway.
