Had plans of going today, but seem to have picked up Montezuma's Revenge from my 6 and 12 year old who were sick this past weekend. If you've never been, it's a great time. So much in one place and lots of information. In 2013 and 2014, I was on a mission asking all the crank suppliers to consider doing a fully counterweighted Pontiac forging on their next tool revision. I know they are not going to develop a new tool for it, but encouraged it when it was time to replace the tool. Would be a nice alternative to the high $ billet jobs.

Eric and I were there Thursday and Friday. Great show as always. You can't come away without learning new things unless your eyes are closed. We both felt Friday from around 11:00 AM on through the day was the busiest floor traffic I have ever encountered at PRI!! And we have been to every one of them. Difficult to get from one booth to another without being stuck in traffic and bumping into people. The vendors had to be very happy with the turnout. I also felt a very optimistic vibe among all the vendors. Clearly in their minds, motorsports will be on the upswing the next few years. Had a great time. If I had to pick a single area where there seems to be tremendous growth and many new vendors, it would be the light truck diesel market, specifically, Duramax and Cummins. Lots of new performance stuff for those guys. They also had a noticeable push in the open wheel racing area. Lots of Indy car, Indy lights cars on display. This may have been a 1 year deal celebrating the 100th running of the Indy 500, but it was cool.

It's like your eyes are drawn to them. Check the welds on the bracket on the frame for the mid-plate?

Hate to even go there, but,
We had a cleaning lady for our building that went to school in the skilled trades as a Welding Apprentice and later made the big time as a Welder for the UAW. Three years of instruction and her welds are on a whole different level vs that example of work. She is several levels higher on the skills as a Welder/Fabricator. Most of the time it is just being in too big of a hurry vs doing it right. The person can probably weld just fine. Tom V.

I went all three days, and saw some really cool stuff. We ended up buying a digital microscope that is really good at looking at spark plugs, cylinder walls, piston rings etc., in very good detail. It will even focus on something across the room! Met some of the Street Outlaw guys but Big Chief was about impossible to get near, and I'm not waiting two hours to meet any celebrity. Just doesn't mean that much to me. Only had to wait a minute or two to me Reaper, or Boosted and Kayla, who all were very nice, humble people. Great show, just wish I was able to meet some of you from this board.

I visited the Callies booth. Saw a Dodge V-10 crank there that they now make. I asked the owner if they are ever going to make a Pontiac crank, and basically got laughed at for that question. So I said, but you make a Dodge V-10 crank. You can't tell me they are more popular than a Pontiac[I've only machined or built one Dodge V-10 in my almost 24 years of machining engines]. He tells me, but I've sold 6 of those cranks! I'm thinking, SIX, that's it! You'll tool up to make a crank for them but not a Pontiac? I told him that makes no sense to me at all, and Pontiacs are way more popular than Dodge V-10's. But everyone of these guys[Dart included] think no one builds Pontiacs anymore. It's ridiculous. After all, how many hundreds of different heads do you really need for a Chevy?
