Default Gauge ID question ?

I have an older tach in my parts stash that goes to 8k, and has a metal mounting cup that looks like it goes under the dashboard. There is no redline on it. Anybody know what it might be from ?
It's very close to this one one ebay, without the redline part of the gauge sweep.

Well the link was not what I was expecting. Would like to see the tach though.

Heres some pictures. I know it's for a big car, but I don't know what year because of the lack of a printed redline.

According to the Pontiac Paradise web site it's a 1965 Tachometer.

By looking at the mounting bolts it fits on a console. Same as the vacuum gauge does on the 65, 66, and 67 consoles.

I've seen one mounted in the center console of a Catalina, back in the nineties when I was scrounging parts. It was in South Carolina, a yard full of fat fendered cars from the fifties, and they were slowly being trapped by the tree growth, as they were all in the woods. I wonder what ever happened to that collection of cars?

Those are cool but I like the full sweep better, it's easier to read. Now does anybody know how to test this thing out other than hooking it up ?

Early 65 did not have a redline, not exactly sure when it was added but late 65. Same with 65 GTO tachs.

As yours has NO redline, it has to be an early '65 Big Car.

They are DASH mounted, immediately to the left of the speedo.

From the 3 pictures you are showing, it appears you do not have the special internal bracket which holds the tach inside the cup. I think you can obtain these through Pontiac Paradise.

Good luck with it.

The change in color of the rpm stripe doesn't count as a red line? Looks like it was faded from red to yellow. Starts at 5,000 which would be typical.
