Default 1959 finned valve cover ID

Hey guys, wondering if anyone out there has any info on these valve covers? This is the only pick I have currently. there are 8 fins on it. I have not seen these before and did some online searching but did not find anything. The only markings that I am aware of is where it says 59 PONT on the under side. A friend called me as he found them at a swap meet and asked if I wanted them. I agreed to purchase them not knowing anything about them.

Thanks!!

the cal customs that I have seen have 9 fins on them and this one has 8. also the cap location on the cal customs are raised on the cal customers unless this is an early version??

MT valve covers from 1959 would have had THOMPSON on the lip and the fins did not go all the way down on them. They were also slanted slightly.

The closest that I have found are the OFFY covers, but they had 7 fins and Offenhauser written on them.

keep throwing things out there, I appreciate all thoughts here.

I have a set of M/T Valve Covers that says 63 PONT on the inside and there are full ribs on the front and the back as well as the top. I bought them at the same time I bought the M/T Roller Rockers (with the hardened pad on the valve stem end of the Roller Rocker). I would bet money 1960-61 vintage M/T stuff.

also, if these are M/T valve covers, was there a catalog or ad somewhere that would show them? Any thoughts? I paid a fair amount for these valve covers with the same thought that they were something different and I like the way they look.

Thanks for any and all info!

If I knew where I had them stored I would be glad to take a picture.
I have so much crap that I had to move quickly when the city sewer system could not keep up with a 2.5" rain storm that I know they are in a safe spot but knowing where that spot is and then moving crap to get to them and take a pic is not going to happen right now. SORRY.

Tom V.

PS I painted the covers black and polished the ribs and they really looked sharp.
Twist on valve cover breathers like your pic too.

No problem at all, obviously the issues you were dealing with take priority over some valve covers!!

I agree that the 59 PONT feels like a Mickey Thompson deal, but I have never seen anyone claim this type of rocker cover as being MT before. I'll keep looking to see what I see! Thank you for your response and it gives me direction to look.

The M/T aluminum covers (no fins on the ends, "M/T", fins and a fairly large flat spot on the top surface) I bought at a swap meet had "59 Pont" cast on the inside of the cover.

Those are picture of my car and I have had those valve cover for over twenty years. I just put them back on a few years ago.
The close match i can find is the 8 fined Edelbrock Classic Cast Aluminum Valve Covers 41303? Minus the Twist on valve cover breather holes.
So i do believe they are vintage Edelbrock valve covers.

I was able to msg directly with Edelbrock and they looked through their old books state these are not their valve covers. I also looked at a 1957 Catalog (posted on the HAMB) of theirs and all Edelbrock valve covers even back at that time had the Edelbrock name casted into the top of the cover. They also say that they did not have this type of twist cap.

I will keep trying and appreciate any help with these mystery covers!

I have that same set of valve covers on a 1940 Ford Coupe. I have always thought they were just early Cal Customs.

Like I said earlier, my covers were made BY Mickey Thompson (well before any Holley involvement with him). I knew the covers were not Edelbrock as Vic Edelbrock, Sr. put his name on EVERYTHING he ever had cast up.

People are trying to compare late 70s Holley- M/T logo covers with the early stuff.
