Interesting comparison
I dropped the Warp6 heads off at my engine guys shop on Saturday. He had a set of well worked John Kaase Boss 429 heads on the bench. These heads are going on a 570+ci N/A Boss engine he is putting together. Huge power on 93 unleaded.
So we placed the Warp6 on the bench and took a few comparison pics. Last edited by Tom McQueen; 08-15-2016 at 11:30 PM. |

I think the Warp 6 looks better than the Ford head. It has a better exhaust ports and intake locations.
But look at their bore spacing compare to us, much longer heads. |

Huge difference in bore spacing. The Warp 6 heads have more volume in the exhaust it seems by comparison. Hey Tom...Brian says he thinks he may have my rotating assembly together this week. Very excited.

Why on the Warp are the valve cover rails so tall?

I'm not sure there is a specific reason. I am sure that bathtub shape goes a long way to avoiding valve cover leaks. If the gasket is up top leaks will be minimal. The valve covers are very short and O-ring sealed. 8 3/8" bolts per side.
It is a tall head because of the raised intake runners. Almost no short turn with the tall runner and canted valve. Thats why the intake valve is 7.100" long. Out of the box with the standard 2.250" intake valve there's 400+ cfm at .600" lift. So no need to send them to somebody for flow work. They do that as is. No additional expense and no endless waiting. I have a pet peeve. Leaky exhaust gaskets. Like fingernails on a blackboard. Makes me nuts. I think leaky header gaskets are not going to be a problem with these. Last edited by Tom McQueen; 08-18-2016 at 12:58 AM. |

Spark plugs in the rockier chamber? Do they use plug tubes (as in a hemi) to allow external access to the plugs?

Spark plugs are external on the exhaust side like normal. Pretty far down from the exhaust ports. Pic in center. |

Pro Stock is exactly where this head came from. Its lineage is the GM DRCE head. Go here and scroll down to the 'Warp6 development' section. http://www.hotrod.com/articles/hppp-...cylinder-head/ The test engine using an out of the box pair of these (535ci) is over 1150HP. http://www.enginelabs.com/news/dyno-...150-horspower/ |
