Default New Radio

I'm thinking of getting one of these for my 67. Anyone have experience with this radio they'd like to share?

Made a radio delete plate years ago.

Currently I am using my Milwaukee garage

My M12 battery packs.

Please don't laugh at my Milwaukee.

Radio is on hold till long branch manifilfs are installed

Have you done any searches on it?

I think it might have been on a Camaro forum that I read a pretty bad review of that thing, but I have no first hand experience with it.

I did have a AM radio conversion done by http://www.turnswitch.com/. I have been pretty happy with it.

I got the retro sound unit, it is slated for install in the next month or so. All I can say thus far is it looks very nice in the box.

Mounted the retrosound in the face of a broken am radio behind the delco lens, turned out so nice I wish I had sprung for the Bluetooth model... just had to dremell out some potmetal pieces.

I installed one in my '68 Firebird.

Fits perfect, looks stock once installed. The short chassis as compared to the original unit is much easier to deal with when installing.
It works well and sounds good, however the bass signal seems to be overwhelming my speakers! I need to upgrade.

Observations.
When first powered up, there seems to be a slight delay before sound. So, I keep turning the volume knob thinking I don't have it turned up enough to hear it, then consequently its too loud when it does initialize. Most of the time this scares the hell out of me and my passengers!
Speaking of the volume knob, there isn't much resistance to the volume knob so its easy to over do it when turning the volume up, especially while driving.

When I first installed the unit, it wouldn't switch over to FM. I contacted the manufacturer directly with the issue. I shipped it back to them and they repaired and returned it with no issues. Its been working perfect ever since.

In summary, it works well, looks and fits like original.
In my opinion, the closest one can get to original and look with an aftermarket radio.
I'd like it better if the volume had tactile feel like the original, and played sound immediately without the delay, but like a lot of things, once I got used to it, no problem.

If I had to do it over again I would get one with black pushbuttons, still have to call retrosound and get some knobs closer to fbird knobs, the give you Camaro style and shaft is not same as stock

I agree with projectfolly. i got the bluetooth version. I love the way it installs and sounds but I am currently fighting "noise" making the unit pop and change volume when the ignition is running. Installed noise filter on the radio with no change. Just received the MSD 8830 capacitor to try and kill any ignition noise coming back thru the 12V system.

Default Retrosound installation - Final Solution

After trying everything else to get rid of the noise and popping, Retrosound sent me a relocation kit. This installs the body of the radio somewhere other than the dash and leaves the knobs and face in the dash.
I have put the radio body and a power noise filter under the drivers seat. You have to make your own extension harness and get the antenna and control extensions.
MSD is in the glovebox with an 8830 noise capacitor on its power supply.
After all this it works perfectly.
If you have an HEI or MSD, you probably need to do this relocation in the first place. It stinks after the car is all put together.

Just an update. I haven't received the radio yet. I was told there was up to an 8 week lead time.
