Hey Keith, a while back (actually waay back) you posted some ideas about injecting grease into the pillow block bearings. Do you remember what thread that was in? I'm having trouble finding it.

Also how did that lube job work out? still in use? any follow-up thoughts?

I remember it being for the rear axle bearings not prop shaft but I can be wrong.

Gary is correct. I have never had to service my prop shaft bearings. I have used a grease "needle" to slip under the bearing side seal & pump grease into an axle bearing.

I was able to do the same with the prop shaft bearings.

One of mine was dragging (causing some noticeable vibration at idle that was not getting better) so I pulled the shaft and one spun freely, the other would barely make one turn when given a slap (I couldn't count the turns on the free one.. maybe 3-4/)

I slipped some oil under the seal and it spun about 1 1/2 turns... the oil helped but it had a bit more sound than the free one. Not good enough. I think that anytime a shaft comes out (after 50 years) it wouldn't hurt to get a bit of lube in there whether you think it needs it or not.

Looking for bearings locally, I could not find any of the numbers we used to get. i.e. BCA 105-CC, ND 88026.

They came up with a couple of KBC bearings 6005-2RS (@ $12.50)

I'll see how they work this afternoon.
