I don't dislike them.
I'm the the type of person that would sport them for a while, then switch to a no hubcap deep steely or a mag after a while though. I'd keep them though. I think, for some cars, I like them enough to like all the original equipment, even though that might get changed if it were mine. It part of the nostalgia and appreciation of the untampered condition. Sometimes I look at 68 charger hubcaps on ebay, even though I don't have a 68 charger, and if I did, it wouldn't have hubcaps on it most of the time.

Why do people like Rallys, Cragars, Dubs, Spinners, because they like them that's why.

Sorry to disagree, but i like when less is more. I look at Muscle cars as being all go and no show. A/C and power window's and ect, ect, ect are just added weight i can do without. JMO
For what it's worth I like the Poverty Cap look or sleeper look. |

I love them I even did a photoshop of how I'm finishing my 71 t-37 post dog dish caps and all, it's a 10.8:1 400 backed up with an m22. All I will be doing with it is blazing tires and in my opinion nothing crushes ass more than the dog dish look. Hoping to be driving before years end

My Lucy Blue 70 Formula came with poverty caps. I love the look when they are matched up with a deep steel wheel on a low to mid-level trim package.

I'm actually removing the power brakes and power steering from my 69 GP for this reason. The car is heavy enough. A/C was removed a looong time ago. When it gets back on the road it will most likely be riding on Convo-Pros.

In my case I wanted go and no show. Did put some slot mags on it but all gone now. Back to stock. Did not want any bling then preferred to spend it on go. It worked especially with no cod stickers.

I love poverty caps... they scream "Muscle" .. all business.
However I love option wheels too. It's a rare set of full wheel covers that I like. I have a hard time from an engineering and efficiency standpoint to know that my wheels have a full cover, or trim rings and caps ... just a lot of stuff on the wheel ... but they can look good. Besides color ... wheels are obviously the most personalized, particular part most people put on their cars ... so I can see how lots of people are "hate this" "love that". |

There are round port Birds that came with upgrade rims and now wear hubcaps. Some Poncho caps from 60's are very nice and I would run. But these bird ones are baby moon style, very plain. Baby moons on a Super Duty is like you might as well put spotlights and a continental kit on one (I say all in jest as these are very nice cars, to each what they love and they do look mean with the 15" big tires and caps).

I prefer the rounded "baby moon" style.
There just aint no accounting for taste.

While not dog dishes I was thinking of putting the wheel covers that came on my '68 back on. Just wondering what it would look like?

Not my favorite wheel cover, ...but, everyone has rallys. Wasn't there another full size wheel cover they used on the Lemans that was pretty sharp?
Just something I like about an understated GTO. You expect a goat with rallys to be able to smoke them up ... but when a car with plain wheel covers does it ... kind of special |

Your losing the battle about dog dish caps!

It depends on the mood...
.... I've changed shoes many times over the years, once I added the R1 they spoke to me.
She came with Deluxe which I ran for years, then wanted a change. The dish were cool, and looked far better with the Dark Aqua rims rather then Black. The Wires make her look to much like Gran-Pa's car so they went. I've wanted to try Custom Disc but feel they would be the same as Deluxe so I have not pursue them. I'll stick with the ho hum R1's for now

I like the poverty caps much more when the wheel is color coded to the car. Just my personal taste.

Plain steel wheels with dog dish caps are the best!
Here is a pic of my 1970 Buick GS 455 4 speed car one of 510 built by Buick in 1970. Car still sports original paint, plain steel wheels G78-14 Black wall tires and dog dish caps. This car was special ordered as a no option street killer with manual steering, manual brakes, no AC, no gauges, just G1 High Performance GS Stage 1,3.64 posi rear axle. Original owner ordered this car to put the hurt on all comers back in the day and did. Parked in 1975 after she had done her street duty putting away the competition.
