Default Fun time at the track last night

Went to my local track last night, US 13 Dragway in Delmar for test and tune night after work. Got my best 60 foot(1.92) on what is usually a very slippery track for my BFGs. Also got my best et(13.10) by 5/100s but 1 mph slower. Yea, I know it's a boat anchor compared to you hard core racers, LOL. The track is always dominated by bow ties and blue ovals, with Pontiacs almost non existent with the exception of myself and a 10 second 66 GTO. However, last night there were five of us. The other four were a late 70s TA, a new gen GTO, and two G8s. The TA was being driven by a high school kid with his Dad. The kid went 15.5, which beat his Dads best time by a whole second, so he has that to live down. As luck would have it, I ended up racing both G8s. They went 14.0 & 14.7. I never saw what the other GTO ran. Fun time in a very relaxed atmosphere. Hoping to get some slicks this spring so I can finally launch at full throttle!

13.10 is nothing to sneeze at!

That's a good time especially for a street driven heavy car on street tires.

Congrats!

Being able to enjoy racing as a family is fantastic. I lost my son to video games, but my daughter seems interested.

Thanks, guys! Definitely all about the fun and personal best for me. Nice to hang out with some other car guys, go fast, & do burnouts without worrying about the cops.

Where is there a track near OC? We go to Bethany Beach every year and I would love to bring and race my Pontiac when we go in July this year.

Jeff, Thanks, that is the same setup I am looking at. 15x8s with a 28/30" Hoosier radial slick probably 9/10" wide, hopefully soft compound. Looking forward to seeing you this spring.

PB, Track is in Delmar, De which is about five miles north of Salisbury just over the state line.

Very respectable given the current combo; as others have said the 12s can't be far behind. And I agree that if you can involve family or some other Pontiac racers then all the better.

For sure my favorite place to be...I'm not a racer but an avid tuner and love making changes to pick up time.Over the years have had lots of friends and family come and they still do...and have made many friends at the dragstrip....always a good time.

Traction,Tuning,Testing and seat time does wonders for et's....

Have fun
