Class of 82... 67 GTO convertible. Gold with white top and gold interior. Bought 2 mikes from my house for $600. Painted it black several years later and then sold it in 89 to someone around Raleigh,NC..Would be nice to know where it is now. Still remember flooring it and the accelerator return spring breaking... What a ride! Current GTO is a much nicer car...

This was my ride in High School. My Grandmother bought this new in 1967, it's a 283 2 speed. My older brother owns it now. I bought the '67 SS hardtop for the drive train (327,275 hp) and buckets seats to put in the convt. My Dad said hell no, so I sold it and bought my 1st firebird.

My first Pontiac (and the car I drove to high school) was a Palmetto Green 65 GTO tri-power four speed car that I bought from my older brother, pictured here standing next to the car around 1974. I later sold that car and bought a Nightwatch Blue 65 GTO tri-power four speed car.

Seems we had our roles reversed then, Jim- you in SoCal with a Mopar Fluid-Drive; and me in nerdy upstate NY driving 3/4 race flathead Fords ('48 4-door & '47 tudor).

Typical family vacation photo of mom, me and my brothers and sister circa 1970. Dad is taking the photo. Yeah, it is 85 degrees in June and I am wrapped in a cardigan sweater. I still hate cardigans...

Class of '85
April 1983, I bought my first car, this '72 G/P. I swapped on the used mags and tires soon after. It had a beautiful velour interior, and drove like new. I sold it in 1988, but made a life-long friend as a result. October of the same year, I got this '72 Formula 400. Still have it today. |

The Daytona Yellow 69 SS396 that my dad bought for my 16 year old brother after mistakenly letting me buy my 69 Pace Car Camaro at age 14.

Without a doubt ... the only reason I am a Pontiac fan is because my father bought ... while I was a kid ... 66 Tempest, 69 Firebird, and a 69 Catalina, all around the time when I started noticing cars.

Even with all of the changes, that's a very familiar looking location!

HS Graduation 1982. 60 lbs lighter. Kind of wish I still had the Lemans. Really wish I still had the hair.

My parents mostly drove Mopars but my Uncles drove Pontiacs. I always loved my Uncles cars.

I'll play!
At age 15 1/2 I was taking the bus home from school and noticed a cool car parked on the side of a house that never moved. I told my mother I was going to try and buy it. She didn't think I was serious. My 1983 budget was $1k. I knocked on the door and the young wife that answered it, replied to my inquiry about the car: "it's my husband's car. sure, I'll sell it to you. How about $900?" HELL YES! The 340 Duster was mine! I drove it home just in time for me to get my license (shh, don't tell). That was ONE FAST car! Best win was over a 69 SS 396 Chevelle and the cop car behind it. hehehe I've always loved mopars, but also got an early taste for Pontiacs in this 72 Grand Prix with a tri-power:

I just dug these out
My high school ride.....The first three pics were taken in early '74, a few months after getting the GTO. Note the '69 Z-28. It belonged to a friend who had lost his license. I did things behind the wheel of that car I should have been arrested for. The third pic was taken at the Yorktown Battleground on Easter Sunday. That's me in the middle wearing tan pants. My future wife in the light blue hip huggers is beside me.
The fourth pic is at least a year later, showing my younger brother's Plum Mist 4 speed in front of mine (in primer). I was running 4.5x15 Rocket mags on the front with 5.60-15 tires. Deadly. My brother had my Scat-Trac G-60s on blacked out Rally I's on the back of his Goat. Hidden beside the house is a 65 GTO, and across the street a 66. There was also another 66 and a 68 that belonged to other neighbors. Thirty homes on the street, with 6 GTOs. Last edited by 400 4spd.; 01-23-2016 at 08:29 PM. |
