Gary, love 'em all. there was a silver W50 400 4spd '79 that sold new in Lawton @ Weldon Cox, coworker of one of best friends owned it. Johnny babied it, always wondered if he managed to keep it. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Alvin I don't maintain anything on them. I parked these cars years and years ago, and haven't moved them since. most of them are still holding air in the tires. but the buildings are 100% moisture free but I do not heat or cool them. temps usually stay at the worst case 30 to 90 degrees inside.

Picked this one up recently. It is a Z VIN code W72 car. Has 69k original miles. However previous owner decided to go fast and I think the original motor was grenaded. Now has a 461" aluminum headed hydraulic roller cam motor but still retains a lot of originality elsewhere. Has PW, PDL, rear defrost, A/C etc... Silver with red interior.

Edgeworth Bird
"...given the right timing, I'd been interested in the Edgeworth Formy
any idea where it ended up?" Ryan Warter drove the car in the Toyota Nationals, in Vegas, in October. On the qualifying list, he's shown as being from Olalla, WA. http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCStory.asp?ID=307581 Ryan races a '75 Formula. I assume he and Bill were friends, and possibly raced together. They were both entered in the Northwest Nationals, in August. http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...r2015#indextop I think he was the one who placed the ad. Don't know if it sold or not. Ryan's contact info was included in the ad. "Call Ryan, 253-208-5777 Email , jointventure61@yahoo.com" Last edited by ponyakr; 12-28-2015 at 11:52 AM. |

I just don't remember seeing that many formula's back then. Trans Am's and flat hood firebirds, yes. Very few formula's, at least from my small world, back then...

77 Formula
Ok, so I had to drag out an old photo and get it into photobucket to join in.
This is a '77 Formula that I "flipped" about 5 years ago. I purchased it from the original owners grandson. I drove up to Des Moines from Kansas City to get the car. An original Iowa car all its life! It had all original paint, and needed both lower, rear quarter patch panels. I replaced the headliner, had the driver seat upholstery repaired and redyed the lower door panels. The interior turned out beautiful! Tuxedo standard, original am/fm radio, rally gauges, formula wheel, perfect dash and console. It was a 305 small block chevy, auto with power steering and brakes, no A/C! The doors shut like it was 1977! I think it might still be around, I never heard back from the guy I sold it to. I loved the color combination with the white canopy stripe too! Enjoy! |

I know where there is a 78 Formula sitting in a car port. I'll get a picture, maybe?

One of the reasons that it's hard to find a decent Formula hood is because the hood scoop design allowed water to collect on the under side of the hood thus creating a rust issue. The insulation mat makes it even worse.

My 77 survivor Formula W72 & W50 with auto trans ordered new by my brother from Mont Clare Pontiac in Chicago and sold to me in August 1979. Has 52,000 miles with Hurst T-tops and 1 of only 756 produced with this drivetrain combo. Have all original dealer paperwork including $6,761.80 window sticker and factory build sheet which was located under rear seat.
My brother wanted 4 speed but backorder delay forced switch to automatic, time frame from order to delivery was 10 weeks. Last edited by KAINSEL; 01-08-2016 at 07:11 PM. |

These period pics taken in autumn 1979 after my friend bought his new Atlantis blue T/A with 403 Olds and Fisher T-tops at Grossinger Pontiac in Chicago, IL. The red 74 Super Duty was 3rd owner at the time and purchased new at Penny Pontiac in Barrington, IL. Remember those slotted mag wheels, I believe Kelsey was vendor. Check out the 77 Cutlass in the background. Unfortunately both T/A's are gone forever to the scrapyard...
A great time to be a GM F-body enthusiast as 1st & 2nd gen Firebirds & Camaros were EVERYWHERE on the streets! Last edited by KAINSEL; 01-12-2016 at 01:00 AM. |

Do you know if the owner of the SD TA has any records of it? (VIN? etc) I don't have the Penny dealer in my records. And doesn't look like the SD was in the SD Registry. (at least with the Penny dealer) Your Formula looks great!
