Default Power level.

Hey all,
Happy New Year!
To answer the power level question. Steve Morris has an IA II aluminum block motor on his web site that made 2000HP on his dyno. One of Butler's customer is running one @ 1600HP. Those are the highest numbers that I know about. Life expectancy is really up to the builder/owner/driver. A broken balancer or any other breakage can take out any block. Missing a tune up can severely damage many components without being immediately evident. All the bad stuff shows up much later.
Our block material and heat treat are the same as Donovan's big and small blocks. Same Foundry. With all of the changes that we made to these second generation aluminum blocks they are as good as they can be. HPP did an article with specifics on all of the changes.
The January block order should be ready for shipping in March.
Hope this helps.

Are the cylinder sleeves any longer in these blocks compared to a stock length cylinder?

I will have to ask David Butler to look after the holidays.

I know he has a couple of (latest run) aluminum blocks for sure.

These second generation IA II Aluminum Donavan style blocks are super strong. They are Heat Treat to 900 degrees and held there for 10 hours and then water quench to 32 degrees in seconds. This aligns the molecule grains tighter and adds a T6 temper. This process is not cheap.

The bottom end mains are connected 3 inches up in to the water jacket area. We added extra ribbing on the sides and back bulk head. We have sold over a 100 of these blocks over the years.

Jeff V. Told me he has won 20k or more over the years and has thousands of passes on his block. He stated is is all from the way the block cools down so fast.

He won this year's championship again. I think he has won this three times.
You couldn't pry this block out of him if you tried. Well may be for a million bucks.

I will try to get him to respond on this post.

I have run the alum blocks since AllPontiac began making them. The first one I put over 2000 runs on it. Major issue with my engine plate(breaking off frame after wheelstand) caused a catastrophe that took out that block. I got a new block in the summer of 2014 and now have over 300 runs on it. It does cool down quickly. I don't really push the block anywhere near the power it can handle. It probably makes around 800-850 hp.
I have won 4 championships using these blocks and over $50K in winnings.
Thanks Bob and Frank for the great product.
