Default 64 Bonneville TV rod....newbie here

Hallo!
My name is Markus, and I'm living in Germany. After driving some old Harleys I decided to buy a 64 Bonneville 4Drht as a daily driver, because modern cars are boring!
After some years of "happy driving" the 389er engine past away...
so I decided put in a 461 stroker. Now I have the problem to adjust the TV rod.
The transmission is a Super Hydramatic.
I don`t have a manual and in the www I only found an adjustment for older transmissions with a TV cable.....
I would be very thankfull if someone could help me!!

Markus

Welcome to the forum, would love to see some pics.

There are a few discussions about this on the site, the search function can help you find a lot of great info. Here is one that may be most helpful. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...=tv+adjustment

Yes, welcome to the best place on the web for Pontiac tech and e-friendships (that often turn in to long term friendships after a weekend at Norwalk or a POCI convention)!

63PGMan's link is a good one. Also get on ebay.de and buy a "Hydra-Matic Shop Manual" for '64...'62 or '63 probably also have the key info you need if a '64 is not found.

And may I also suggest this: http://rustbucket.de/

bis dann!

OUCH!! I guess you had good reason for the 461!!! Looks like a nice ride other than the prior hole in the oil pan, bet that made a lovely sound when she let go!!

My girlfriend was driving it about 160km/h on a highway and I was right behind here in the Roadrunner. I could`t see anything, because of the oil fog....
Yes, she told it was a frightening "sound"...
NO, its was not a long time "high speed running"!!!!

Sorry about the old 389. They were good but that is obviously done for.

Here are a couple of pages from the 61 manual on the TV adjustment. I think it is the same as 64 but should get you by until you take Engine-Ear's advice and get a manual.

Can't seem to get it to take two pages at the same time. I'll try them one at a time.

File size bit me again. I'll send the first page in halves.

Great DarkSider, M.L.!

That old oil pan is garage art.

What intake manifold and carburetor are you running now? I think the T.V. adjustment will require you to have the rest of the original linkage on it (the intake) for success.

Post a pic of the driver's side of the engine (without the air cleaner) so we can see what you have there.

No garage art....my girl friend will build a coffee table with the block and the broken parts!

Intake is a Edelbrock Performer 2156 with a 750 Quick Fuel.

I would shorten the rod that goes from the carburetor to the upper bellcrank. You will have to extend the threaded portion to get the correct adjustment.

I have had to do this anytime that I have used 65-later heads.
