But anyway, I like how this guy's thread that had nothing to do with asking what people thought about LS swaps has turned into a bunch of purists bashing engine swaps. I love how the same community of people that wishes more young people would get interested in Pontiacs are the same people that run them all of for not wanting a chalk mark restoration.

Wow guys, sorry!! A lot of good points on either side. The car is a 1977 Can Am. It is not a numbers car so originality is gone. I am mostly a purist as my Trans Ams are restored that way. This car I was thinking of having a little fun with and building it the way I would have if ordered it last week. Including a color change to Black and put a "Can Am" bandit style theme to it. I've wanted to do this for years and who knows which route I will actually go as I am just int he planning stages. Thanks everyone for the comments.

I'm not into a complete resto of any car I've ever had as I like to drive them & when they get to that level most won't even take them out of the garage. But I drive Pontiac because it's a Pontiac not because it's a frankinstine .

This won't be the first Can Am with a LS in it. There's one that was done in Texas.

Ken, installing a LS, especially a 2 or 3 is worth the effort. 73-77 A's have more in common with 70-81 F's than the earlier A's - I would look over at transam country and nastyz28; a lot of us on those sites have done this with excellent results.
