Default 1968 GTO Quadrajet Wanted

Hi,

I'm looking for a 1968 Quadrajet for my GTO - original is 7028262

I'd like a rebuilable or reliable used carb (not rusted up, frozen)

A PM would be the quickest way to contact me

Thanks!
Matt

Looking at Eric White's GTO numbers guide & a few other folks (carb vendors) have told me the correct part number should be 7028268 - can anyone verify? If so, I guess that's the one I need. Thanks for the replies thus far!

I don't think there's any difference functionally...maybe different jets, etc for special applications like HO. My '68 had an 8262 when I got it but it may be an across the board '68 400 auto carb number. The last digit just indicates auto for even numbers, manual for odd numbers.
Not sure if base auto GTO had a special number or not as I've seen both numbers listed for GTOs.
Check this chart for at least one guy's version... http://www.teufert.net/carbs/pont-4bbl.htm

You're very welcome...By the way, if you're not stuck on originality, there are better carbs out there from later years that will swap right on to your '68. I'm running a '74 455 carb on mine.
I have a very clean 8262 on the parts shelf but I wouldn't sell it to you because it's be 'factory reconditioned'...meaning it's almost junk.
