John
There's a nice III on ebay right now. Not a direct comparison of course but maybe it would offer some idea by the interest it's generating at $69K.

You should bring it to the Pure Stock Drags and run it on the track?
I converted it over to power steering and brakes after almost rear ending my wife when she had to make a panic stop in my 2004 GTO. Wanted to keep it all manual but safety comes first.

Thought about the pure stock drags, but a little worried about popping the WW block that I worked so hard to find!

Second one ran high 12.00s on Redline Bias Plys and full stock exhaust with 3.55 gears. Never got a pass on the 4.33 car. Greg bought that one, too.
That would be great if Greg could share some info and maybe a picture or two!

I'm not sure who told you that, but when I put a deposit down on the car in 1999, I saw the original motor. It was not in the car & had spun a bearing, but it was there.

Interesting tale he told you and probably sounds good at a cruise nite but not exactly the truth. Gary Cave brought the car out from Oregon in the mid 90's, & it still had the Oregon license plate on it when I saw it in 99. I can't honestly remember the mileage at the time but seem to think it was in the 50's or 60,000 mile range. The car had surface rust on it & Gary had sprayed it all over with a yellow primer to keep that from getting any worse. It was sitting outside next to a pair of RA IV Orbit Judges he had behind his shop at the time - well before he moved out to the farm in the country.

The motor was in the building with the good cars over to the left side of the property, over in the corner. Had spun a bearing & the rod had come apart - would have needed a sleeve to make the block usable again, but it was numbers matching at that point in time. Original carb was still on the intake, car was complete.

I've always loved this car from the moment I first heard about it - it was so simple, so basic, just built to do one thing & do it well - go fast in a straight line! The color combo was perfect as well.

Enjoy it!

If you ever come across any pictures from back then or if the engine is still available I would be very interested!
