I know its been a long time sense I said I was going to get pictures of the 2 HEI's I have. I pulled the 69 Bird out Sunday it has the Later Large style with the shorter Cap. Here are a couple of pic's, you can also just see the Small SBC Fluid Dampner, and the accessories that had to be moved forward 1 1/4".

Question

Jeff,
Was that Fl Damper a direct fit or did you have it cut?

If he used a chevy crank it probably direct fit to the crank (isn't it a stroker?). Otherwise the OHC crank either has to be turned down or the balancer opened up.

I'm curious to know the actual answer

Yes the engine is a Stroker with a GMC 292 Crank, the Small SBC fluid Damper is a direct fit to a 292 crank. To fir the stock OHC-6 Flywheel you need to open out the ID of the Flywheel to match the 292 Crank.
I hope to undig Tom Langdons OHC-6 to get some pic's of the large HEI on it.

I forgot it was a Stroker. Thanks Jeff.

I wish you would pull out and do a full engine-stand mock up with that engine, would love to see it all assembled

That's the plan later this month, I am finally recovering from both the Fire next door and all the damage it did to our house, and what ever bug I picked up in Japan this spring. I was sick for over 2 months, they never did figure out what it was. Just getting my strength back now.
