your IBM punch card box 70 will have a letter B C D E F etc that letter corrisponds with the letter in your service manual
page 4B 4 to 4B 5 reference the letter and you have your original ratio. Need to check stamp on axle housing and possably remove diff cover and check the stamping on the ring gear to fully document. hope this helps Patrick

Thanks. As I recall the #70 box was blank. All my PHS stuff is packed up in my moving stuff. When it arrives I will have to dig it out and check it again.

Seats back from upholstry
Need to catch up on some posts. Got my seats back from the upholstery guy. Didn't come out too bad considering they had been folded up in a box in the attic of a garage for almost two years. The skins and bucket foam came with the car.

Seats back from upholstry
Dropped the seats in quick to see how they looked in the car. Before I put them in, I set the seats out in the PHX sun for an hour and it took the wrinkles out real quick.

Fan Shroud and Wiring route
Had the fan shroud off the other day. Replaced all the fuel line hoses and upper radiator hose. I noticed that under the shroud were several wiring clips. Is the headlight harness supposed to run through there?
Also one of the thread inserts is stripped out in the core support. Are these available? |

The non glory stuff
Well, I have gotten back into getting something done. Working on the stuff you don't see. But if you are going to do it right, it needs to be done. Working on getting all the window components cleaned up and repaired where needed. Here is a before and after of the regulator and power motor for the rear window. Once I source a pigtail with plug, I will cut the other one loose from the harness.

turn signal clean up
I got one of the front turn signal housings cleaned up. Evaporust works great for initial clean up. I then took a wire brush to it to finish it off. Came out really nice. Photos show one done and one not.
Now the question is, do I spray it with some clear or wipe it with some oil to keep it looking like this? I will spray the inside with white reflective paint. |

I would paint them bright silver and clear over that.

2nd letter is ratio A=2.41, B=2.56 ......G=3.42, H=3.55, J=3.73, L=4.11 There is an off chance is it's marked 4.11 it could be a 3.90 or a 4.33 (dealer installed) If it's a 4.11 you may well have a M21 (close ratio Muncie)

Turn signal clean up
Well it looks like I have found a source for the components to fix the light sockets on the turn signals and my rear courtesy lights that fo on the rear armrests. The wire is a little light in my opinion, but I get the components I need. I found the sockets at AutoZone. One had a boot that I can use on the turn signal. I will probably use some heat shrink on the boot since I have two wires exiting one hole on the boot. The original had individual exits for each wire.
For the rear lights I will have to cut the wires and add spade connectors so I can feed the wires through the insulators. Same with the turn signal wires, unless I can disengage them from the plug on the other end. Lastly, anyone have any suggestions on replacement lens gasket material? This one is hard and sticky, but complete. I suspect it should be more pliable. |

Not sure if this would work or not, but for my steering column firewall seal, I used some closed cell foam sheets from a craft store. They were sold in the scrap book section. They also sell white in color. Who knows how long it will hold up.

I used to have a bunch of dense foam sheets and they were white material. They came from packing material. The sheets were placed between raw flexible printing plates so they did not get scratched. I no longer have access to that business. It would have been perfect. Not quite as thick, but was pliable enough seal well.

Plastic Polishing
Tried my hand at polishing my front turn signal lenses. I did one so you can see one done and one not. Took me about 45 min.

window rollers
Got these window rollers today. They are not called out for a Cat, but I have not found anything else or another source. I guess I will grind off the back of the rivet and try to bang these on. I read in another post to use a nail set to spread it and then flatten it out.
If anyone has a source for direct replacement or tips to spread rivet, I would appreciate a response. |

A brake rivet tool like we use on aircraft works grand.
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...clickkey=91061 And they are under $20
