Default 68GTO BRAKE UPGRADE

Hi,
looking at upgrading my brakes with 2005 GTO calipers.
Will his work ?
i was even thinking of getting larger disks there due for replacement.
Bear / Willwood are illegal over here . just in case you where thinking that line
I run standard Pontiac disks on the front ( disk ) drums on rear ( they will be changing but not yet)

Craig

Australian compliance has now passed( 2014 ) Willwood and Baerbut you must have the whole system done from booster to disks .
You can not have Willwod brakes with a stock master cylinder for example

ive ended up going with a C5 spindle & caliper with 13" rotors from CCP. Comes all assembled, if it fits and works as good as it looks, i will be a happy camper.

I'm glad I don't live down under , because every time they talk about cars from there there seems to be another dumb rule when it comes to car down there. Plus you guys drive on the wrong side of the road. You guys are I think only 1 of about 5 countries that drive on the right side. All other countries have always driven on the correct side , the left side.

I think Rex needs more thinking and less drinking. Last time i was in the USA everyone was driving on the right side of the road, not the left (except it seems for Rex). It also seems from a quick Google search that there is approximately 74 countries that choose do drive on the left, and 166 that chose the right side.

Alas, he is correct though with some of our dumb rules.

First off don't drink, & when I said driving on the left I ment those of us who drive on the left hand side of the car & it doesn't take any one with half a brain to figure that out. Yes the driving on the wrong side of the road which is on the left side ,, I was only guessing of the number, but they are still on the wrong side.

The 05 GTO calipers are almost identical to C5 Vette calipers except the abutment/bracket has different bolt locations. You would have to either redrill a C5 kit bracket to use them or swap the Vette abutments on the caliper.

Most kits also use a 13" Vette rotor which require 17" wheels.

But Baer kits generally use a PBR caliper almost identical to Vette and GTO calipers.

Would you have to use the GTO/Holden MC and booster also?

I converted to rear disks on my '65 and used a kit based on the early '80's El Dorados. The parking brakes are terrible on those, so I switched to a Corvette design where the disk rotor has an internal drum for parking.

Mine is a Wilwood kit, but you can probably find them from another manufacturer.

It's an earlier Corvette design that works with 15 inch wheels.
